Iieadiiig Yiddish poel is honored
NEW ¥ORK->Avraham Sutz-kever, Israel's foremost Yiddish poet, was honored at a dinner by the World Federation of Bergen-Belsen Associations for his outstanding contributions to literature of the Holocaust on occasion of publication by Bergen-Belsen^ Memorial Press of his new book of poetry, "Poems of the Sea of Death".
Honoring the noted poet, a hero of the Jewi^ underground during World War II, was Ambassador Yosef Tekoah, Israel Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
Israel's Ambassador said the lesson of the Holocaust "is a cruel one. The only protection is one's strength and capacity to defend oneself." As Israel is threatened with annihilation by its Arab neighbors, he said, "the only thing^ that stands between Israel and a repetition of the tragedy of the Holocaust is only Israel's own strength, and determination."
Jn accepting the acclaim of hiS; fellows, Mr. Siutzkeve^, who is ^fi^tor of :the '"Gbiderie Kelt (Golden Chain)", leading Yiddish literary journal published in Israel, pledged himself to continuing Writing for the glorification and memory of European Jewry's martyred dead.

A Toronto neo-Nazi: has hit upon a new "nuisance" device. He has arranged with the telephone company through a third party to have a tap^d message, delivered upon dialing a given, number. The messages, which have been changed weekly, are essentially obnoxious and unacceptable. The first two carried clear anti-Jewish references. The third was a particularly vicious and offetisive one. The current one, dealing with Israel and thie Middle East, is also f a Is e, insulting anc abusive.

NEW YORK — A plaque in gratitude for the rescue of the Danish Jews was presented yes-^rday to the Consul General of Denmark, G. F. K. Harhoff, by a delegation of the North American Jewish Youth Council headed by its chairman Jerry M. Epstein. The Danish representative expressed his thanks to the delegates.
The North American Jewish
given Danes
Youth Council has initiated programs throughout the U.S. to commemorate the rescue of 7,000 Danish Jews who were brought to safety to SWeden thanks to the heroic effort of Danes of all Walks of life, from king to commoner. The Youth Council is also one of the sponsors of the scholarship fund on behalf of the American Salute to Denmark and Sweden Committee to benefit Danish students.
A number of steps have |)een taken to offset and block this "project".
1. Canadian Jewish Congress sent a protest first to the Toronto vice-president of Bell Canada and later to the national President of the firm in Montreal.
2. Congress conferred with general counsel of the firm and discussed legal means of blocking it. Statutory and regulative clauses forbid such messages and laying criminal charges is being considered.
3. Non-Jewish and veteran groups have been encouraged to express their protest.
4. Individuals and organizations in Toronto have been asked to communicate their feeling to the Bell Canada firm. B'nai B'rith has already undertaken this.
