Chevrii Kudishci honored at SX Shiabbfit services
Shabbat commences this Friday evening, Nov. 4 with candlelighting at 4:26 p.m. Mincha and Kabbalat Shabbat services at Congregation Schara Tzedeck begin at 4:30 p.m. in the main sanctuary.
Chevra Kadisha Shabbat takes place this Saturday, Nov. 5, Parashat Chayei Sarah. Services begin at 9 a.m. with Rabbi Baruch Zaichyk officiating. Cantor Moshe Preis conducting the services, and Rev. William Shuster reading the Torah. All honors will be given to members of the Chevra Kadisha.
Jay Neufeld will conduct the Youtti minyan in the Beis Medrash at 10 a.m., with Baruch Kaplan reading the Torah. All teenagers are being welcomed to attend this' minyan.
At the conclusion of the services, (he Chevra Kadisha will sponsor the kiddush, to which the entire congregation is being invited.
During the Kiddush, Miriam Ziev, Israel Vice-Consul stationed in Toronto, will present an informal talk. Rabbi Zaichyk ^ill meet with his Gemorah class Saturday at 3:30 p.m.,followed by Mincha. and Sholosh Seudos. Maariv begins at 5:30 p.m., and Rev. Shuster will recite Havdallah at the conclusion of the service.
The Women's class meets with Rabbi Zaichyk this Monday, Nov. 7 at 8 p.m. in the Beis Medrash, and the Mishmor night on Thui^day will also meet at 8 p.m. in the Beis Medrash.
Vietnamese birth
JERUSALEM — A baby boy has been bom to a couple who were among the 66 Vietnamese refugees rescued, by an Israeli cargo ship and flown to Israel in June. The new mother is the wife of Le-Dinh Quy, formerly a lieutenant in the South Vietnamese army. The birth of their son brings the Vietnamese population of Israel to 67.

To extend a Shabbat atmosphere to as many families as possible, Vancouver NCSY will hold an Oneg Shabbat tomorrow evening, Friday,'Nov. 4, 8 p.m. at the home of NCSY youth durector,. Jay and Judy Neufdd, 1012 Richelieu Ave., Apt. 208. The Oneg is open to all interested teenagers and their parents.
November 4-5 has been designated as '^Shabbat Shab-batot" for the entire West Coast region of NCSY. Betty Weingarten, regional president of Cochav B'Maarav, has written to all rabbis and youth durectors in the area to urge every NCSYer in the region, from Edmonton in the irartti to Phoenix in the south, to try to, observe Shabbat fully over this particular Shabbat.
Sandee Huberman, president of Ner Tamid Vancouver NCSY, has urged aU members of her chapter to accept this challenge and tiy to observe Shabbat to the fullest extent.
Rabbi Baruch Zaichyk and Mr. Neufeld have urged all NCSY members and their families to join in this Shabbat and have suggested that a good way to begin is by attending the first NCSY Oneg Shabbat of the year.
An evening program open to all^ m&k and women in the communi^ on tu^day, Nov. 15; 8 p.m. will examine major life issues from the various J ewish religious viewpoints. Sponsored by four local Sisterhoods as a joint event, the program will be held at Schara l^edeck auditorium.

The over 50 new members who have joined the Goldoi Age club this past year will be welcomed at a special luncheon in their honor, planned and convened by Marsha Carfinkel and Celia Schacter.
The event takes place on Monday, Nov. 14,12 noon, m the Centre auditorium. Myrna Rothman will play and smg well-known Hebrew and Jewish melodies.

Questions will be taken from the audience at conclusion of the panel.
A nominal admission charge will include refreshments served at the end of the evemng.
