The story of the growth of Isiaers Hebrew University in the midst of constant wars will be featured at the Tribute Dinner to Morris J. Wosk, when he receives the Univereity's highest presentation, * the Mount Scopus Award, on Sunday, Nov. 25 at the Four Seasons hotel.
Dinner chairman Dr. Sidney Civkin announced that a hew color film. The Crown Jewel of Wisdom, the story of Hebrew University's development from its beginnings on Mount Scopus to the present^ will be shown for the first time at the dinner.
Guest speaker, Simcha Dinitz, former Israel Ambassador; will emphasize the historic importance of the University ill the development of the Jewish State and ilsi high status among the world's institutiohs of higher learning.
The film, the Crown Jewel of Wisdom, in rare views, shows the ups and downs of Hebrew Univer-
sity's wa^ history: and the. people who participated in its 55-year development to its present stature^ Newly-developed audiovisual techniques, split Greens, four to six cameras and computerized narrative voices are implemented. Early and rarely-seen shots of pioneering activity combine with current views to make it an uiiusual. and exciting presentation, stated officials.
The filni will be shown across Canada by the Canadian Friends, according to; Dr R^lph Halbert, national president. It is expected tp be made available to organizations and schools at a later date.
The entire community is being invited to attend this tribute dinner to Morris J. Wosk. Early reservations are being urged as space is limited. Reservations can be made by calling the Canadian Friends office at 263-0413, Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
B.I. CHAVUROT HOLD RETREAT
On the weekend of Nov, 9-11, members of ,twp of Beth Israel's *chavurot' groups will participate in a Shabbat retreat at Camp Casey on Whidbey Island, Washington. Event theme is 'Brit — the Concept of Covenent in Judaism.*
A *chavura' is a group of people who gather together for the common purpose of understanding them-telves within the context of Jewish life. They do this through social and educational interaction. Each chav-ura, consisting bf no more than 10 couples, chooses thdir own direction and plans their own programs.
The two chaviirot participating in this retreat are comprised of young married couples and families. Spokesmen stated that for many of the parti^Qi^nts, the chakijra has developed into an *extended flmily,' offering its members the warmth of communal study and celebration — a warmth that involves the entire family. The synagogue serves as the resource centre for the various chavurof.
In the past month, two new chavurot have been formed involving people of ail ages. Beth Israel officials noted that chavura exper-
