Guard them, O God, from calamity and injury; suffer not their adversaries to triumph over them, but let the glories of a just, righteous and God-fearing people increase from age to age. Welfare League "Mental Health in Action" conference in co-operation with the Canadian Mental Health Association, takes place at the Ritz Carlton Hotel on February 27 at 11.45 a.m. The League trains and places volunteers; strives to keep its members enlightened on all issues regarding social, economic, and cultural welfare of the community; acquaints its members with its needs and facilities; affords members the chance to work with a professional agency; through publicity gives the public a clearer insight into the subject; studies the problems of aging, child foster care, and the handicapped. The guest speaker, Dr. Francois Cloutier, general director of the World Federation for Mental Health, is coming from London, England, to participate in the conference. He has held positions in psychiatry and neurology in hospitals and schools; is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and the American Psychiatric Association; has written much medical literature; has served as a consultant in juvenile delinquency to a Government welfare clinic. * YM-YWHA CAMP * CAMPAIGN
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Bronfman will act as honorary patrons for the capital fund campaign of the projected summer camp at Huber-deau in the Laurentians, ninety miles from Montreal. The announcement was made by Joe Rubin, general chairman for the $850,000 drive. Charles R. Bronfman is publicity chairman. He said at a press conference in the Montefiore Club that the camp "will fill a community need, and reflects a desire by the Y.M.-Y.W.H.A. to operate a summer camp which will emphasize Jewish identification, continuity, and tradition in the context of our Canadian way of life." With Mr. Rubin was Harvey Golden, executive director of the Y.M.-Y.W.H.A. Another basic objective of the project is to provide summer camping facilities at cost for hundreds of children who are deprived of the benefit of camp experience in the community. Construction of the camp will begin this summer with operation by 1963. There will be two camping periods per summer, each of four weeks duration. The camp will serve approximately 1,000 boys and girls. The camp will be situated on 550 acres of alternately level, rolling, and mountainous terrain, laced By three lakes and fronting a river, ideal for wood* lore and camping trips. The camp is located five miles from the village of Huberdeau, and ten miles southwest of SU Jovite. The site is accessible by two highway routes, and the CNR operates a train to Huberdeau three times weekly. Jewish dietary laws wilt be followed, as well as other traditional observances. The camp itself will be divided into "villages", forty children to each such unit, in order to facilitate programming and supervision of small groups. One of the main goals of the camp, Mr. Golden said, is to train the youngsters in self-reliance, envT

Abram Katz, 1277 Lajoie Avenue, the widower of Mrs, Gertrude Grundman Katz, died at hisr home on Tuesday, January 9. He is survived : by two sons: Mac, 6764 Palmer Avenue, Charles, 6092 Westbury Avenue: two daughters: Mrs. Sol. Appel (Toba), 6460 Mc-Lynn Avenue; Mrs. Eddy Segal (Sarah), 1277 Lajoie Avenue; seven grandchildren: William, Gita, and Myra, children of Mr. and Mrs. Mac Katz; Peter, and Gerald, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Katz; David, and Gary Appell; and a brother. Joseph Finkelstein, 4866 St. Catherine Road, died suddenly at his home on Sunday, January 7. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jennie Finkelstein; two sons: Ben., 5555 Dudemaine Street; Issie, 5010 Powell Avenue; six grandchildren: Mrs. I. Miller (Gloria), Mrs. R. Bell (Barbara), and Essie, children of Mr. and Mrs. Ben. Bell; Mrs. Norman Weiss (Ruth), Sidney Marc, and William Alan, children of Mr. and Mrs. Issie Finkelstein; and six great-grandchildren: Stephen, Rhonda, and Andrea Miller; Elaine Janice, and Janet Bell; and Jeffrey Philip Weiss. Funeral services took place from Paperman's. Dr. Solomon Frank, Rabbi, officiated. Burial was at Independent Hebrew Sick Benefit Society cemetery.
Mrs. Pearl Bernstein, 5732 Smart Avenue, the widow of Morris Bernstein, died at her home, on Tuesday, January 16. She is survived by two sons: Hyman, 4989 Isabella Avenue; Harry, 2385 Noel Street; six daughters: Mrs. J. E. Wiser (Goldie), 6732 Smart Avenue; Mrs. L. Friedman (Fanny), of Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. L. Simrod (Shirley), of Toronto, Ont.; Mrs. S. Bloom (Ray), of London, Ont,; Mrs. L. Blidner (Phyllis), 5752 Smart Avenue; Mrs. B. Kahlenberg (Margie), 5622 Alpine Avenue; seventeen grandchildren; seventeen greatgrandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Rifka Lesser, 5214 King Edward Avenue. Funeral services took place from Paperman's, Rabbi S. M. Zambrowsky officiated. Burial was at Beth Ora cemetery.
Moe Cramer, of Kingston, Ont., died there on Saturday, January 6, at the age of sixty-three years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Leah Palmer Cramer; four daughters: Mrs. Aaron Kizell (Birdie), of Miami, Florida; Mrs. H. Azima (Dr. Fern Azima), 70 Summit Crescent; Mrs. M. Dental (Edythe), of Toronto, Ont; Miss Brenda Cramer, of Kingston, Ont.; seven grandchildren: Karen, Melinda, and Jeffrey Kizell; Re-nee and Andrea Azima; Beth and Arona Dental; a brother, Judel Cramer, of Argentina, South America; and three sisters: Mrs. Ida Furman, 375 Berube Street; Mrs. Helen Elman, 320 Marlat Avenue; Mrs. J. Wiseberg (Molly), 2660 Ekers Road. Burial took place in Kingston.
Solomon Schwartzburg, 405 Alexis Nihon Boulevard, died at his home on Saturday, February 3. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bella Tulchinsky; a daughter, Dr. Rose Gak, wife of Chaskel Gak, of that address; and a grandson, David Gak. Funeral services took place from Paperman's. Rabbi A. D. Niznik officiated. Burial was at the Ukrainian cemetery.
