� UNITED ZIONIST COUNCIL. Aid to Israel project has David Bronstein as chairman. Refugees each week from the Displaced Persons camps and from Cyprus, arriving in Israel hungry, without clothes, and sick; casualties, amputation cases, wounded and disabled, all need medical attention, nourishment, assistance. Two ships loaded to capacity with foodstuffs, clothing, and medical supplies have left Canada and additional large-scale shipments of these commodities will follow. Six thousand cases of kosher canned b**f, salmon, sardines, and a large quantity of food was included in the shipment, also blankets, sheets, towels, linens of various descriptions. The complete list of requirements may be obtained from the Zionist office at 651 Spadina Avenue, KI. 2153. New clothing and shoes are required. In Toronto the needle industry has pledged itself to supply the largest possible amount of items that are needed. Workers are prepared to devote a number of hours to produce the clothing items and manufacturers are supplying the facilities and the material. A central depot at 817 College Street just off Spadina, will receive all contributions. Space for a depot for manufacturers has also been made available at 384 Adelaide Street, and a central warehouse has been established at 251 College Street.

A graduate in honour psychology from the University of Toronto, Miss Hamill is completing requirements for her M. A. degree. She worked for a year as psychologist at the Neuro-Psychia-tric Service of Sunnybrook Hospital, on problems of veteran rehabilitation; during the war as nursery school teacher at the West-End Creche; and in clinical psychology at the Out-patient Department of the Toronto Psychiatric Hospital. The marriage of Beatrice daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Adler, of Hespeler, to Julius S. Spiegel, son of Mr. and Mn. Benjamin Spiegel, Dewson Street, took place on April 21, at half.past five o'clock, at the Barclay Hotel, with Rabbi Judah Washer officiating. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a wihte satin brocaded gown, period style, with sweetheart neckline, long sleeves, tapering to the wrists, and tight bodice above a full skirt. Harris, 4449 Colonial Avenue, Montreal, Que., took place on Sunday, June 27, at Men of England Synagogue, Rabbi M. H. Levy officiating. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Her princess gown of ivory satin had a round neckline, outlined with lace, and her lace halo was sprinkled with pearl beads, and fastened to a full-length ivory tulle veil. She carried a white prayer book, adorned with white orchids and streamers of sweet peas. The groom was given in marriage by his mother and his uncle and aunt Mr. and Mrs, Max Roten-berg. Mrs. H. Marks, aunt of the bride, was matron of honour, dressed in a powder-blue net gown, with mat 'hing headdress, and carried a corsage of American Beauty noses. Irma Woldman was junior bridesmaid, dressed in pink taffeta, and carried a nosegay of mixed flowers. Ben. Harris, of Chicago, 111., brother of the groom, was best man, and the ushers were: Norman Gimans, brother of the bride; Jack Harris, brother of the groom; Irving Gold, and Barney Garber, of Montreal. DEATHS
Jacob Andrews died on July 24, in his sixty-eighth year, at Mount Sinai Hospital, after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Andrews; one sister, Mrs. J. Hoffman (Eva), of St Catharine B; two daughters, Mrs. Morris Adams (Celia*) and Mrs. Sol. Alter (Florence); and three grandchildren, Franklin Adams, Ralph and Blanche Alter. Mr. Andrews was born in Bialystok, Russia, and came to Toronto as a young man. President of the Talmud Torah, he was a motivating factor in the growth and establishment of various branches. Mr. Andrews was a member of Goel Teedec Synagogue for forty-five years, and in more recent years member of Shaarei Shomayim Synagogue. Officiating at the services at the Talmud Torah, were: Rabbi Morris Kurszner, of New York, his nephew; and Edward Gelber. Burial was at Jones Avenue cemetery. Shiva at the home, 223 Glenholme Avenue,
Philip Fruitman died suddenly at St. Michaels Hospital on July 19, in -his fifty-eighth year. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sarah Fruitraan; one son, Joseph; one daughter, Anne; and one grandchild, Michael Fruitman. Mr. Fruitman was an active member of Lagover Sick Benefit Society. Funeral took place from Lambtoa Park, Rabbi I. Harwitz officiating. Burial was in Lagover cemetery. Shiva at the home, 259 Richmond Street West.
