Miss Sydney Funt, daughter of Mr.  and Mrs. David Funt, 186 Grange Avenue, and fiancee of Philip Cohen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Saul Cohen, 33 Averval Drive, was entertained   at   a   miscellaneous shower  and  dinner  at   Murray House, Jby  her mother,  and the k room-elect's   mother.   They   received  one   hundred   and   forty guests. Mrs. Funt wore a navy-blue chiffon dress. It had a low neckline,  outlined with brocaded net, cap  sleeves,  and full skirt, having a panel of brocaded net in the front. Her corsage was of yellow  roses and white sweetpeas. Mrs. Cohen was in a navy-blue silk print dress, designed with high i.ieckline, cap sleeves, and draped .skirt. Her corsage was of yellow lusejj, and mauve sweet peas. Assisting were the bride-elect's sister, Miss Connie Fur.t, wearing a navy-blue softly-tailored gabardine suit, with ccrsage of pink roses; the groom-elect's   grandmother,   Mrs. Rose Hirschoff, Ossington Avenue,

The marriage of Rose, daughter of Mr. and Mrs-. Morris Pinkus, 305 Grace Street, to Harry ZeWitt, son of Mrs. Sarah Zel'.itt, 105 Lippincott Street, and the late Jacob Zellitt, took place on Sunday, March 11, at five o'clock, at Shaarei Shomayim Synagogue,   with   Rabbi   Judah Washer   officiating,   assisted   by Cantor N. Adler.  The bride was given in marriage by her parents. She wore a white satin gown, which had a Chantilly lace bertha collar, trimmed  seed  pearl  beads,  long . tapered sleeves, and nylon, pleated fan-effect, at the bottom of the full  skirt that continued  into a long train.   Her matching crown, trimmed with  seed  pearl  beads, was draped with a long tulle illusion veil, and she carried a cascade of white  lilies, stephanotis, and foliage.   Miss   Lillian   Eisen was maid of honour, in a pale mauve net and lace gown, with a coronet of mixed pale mauve and deep purple flowers in her hair, and carried a matching cascade.   The bridesmaids were: Misses Rita Korn, in lime-green net; Joan Zellitt, pale blue net; Molly Shanoff, pale blue net and metallic satin; Mary Zaid-rijian, pale blue net; Phyllis Weinberg, pale blue lace and net; Roza-ly<n Greenband, in teal blue satin; and Mesdames Louis Civil, in pale blue satin; and Irving Pancer, in yeHow net and lace. They had coronets of multi-coloured flowers in their hair, and carried matching cascades. Barbara Zellitt was flower girl, wearing a pale blue pink and net gown, with coronet of mixed flowers in her hair, and carrying a nvatahing nosegay.   Murray Bowman was best man.   The ushers were: Louis Civil, Jerry Korn, Irving Zellitt, Sidney Pinkus, Henry Waks, Irving Pancer, Max Gross-berg, and: Jack Mirsky. Standards of    multi-coloured    snapdragons banked the altar, and white satin bows were along the aisle seats. Morris Nixon sang "Because" during   the   ceremony.    The bride's mother wore a powder-blue lace and silver  lame  gown,   with corsage of   white   gardenias   and   pink carnations.    The    groom's    mother was in a crepe gown of pale blue, trimmed with silver beading, and had a corsage of vari-coloured roses and carnations. Mrs. H. Zellitt, sister-in-law of the gioom, assisted, in a deep purple lace gown, with pale mauve and purple flowers. For iihe trip to New York, the bride travelled in a navy-blue gabardine suit, with grey straw hat, navy-Mue accessories, grey Persian lamb coat, and corsage of pink carnations. They are residing at 305 Grace Street.   Out-of-town guests were: Miss Lila Greenberg, Mr. and Mrs   S.  Sklar, Mr. and Mrs. J. Sk'.ar, of Oshawa;  Miss Rozalyn Greer.band   and   Mrs.   Benjamin S^hneiderman, of Chicago, 111.; anj A. Gould, of Detroit, Mich.
in a rose-coloured crepe dress, with corsage of red rosea and white sweet peas; amd Mrs. I. Morgan-stein, Ossington Avenue, wearing an olive-green silk print dress, having a low neckline, three-quarter-length sleeves, and draped skirt, with corsage of pink roses and mauve sweet peas. The hon>-ouree wore a chartreuse taffeta dress. It was made with Queen An-ne collar, three-quarter-length cuffed sleeves, and slim side-draped skirt. She had a mauve orchid corsage. Out-of-town guests were: Mesdames A. Bazar, of Cheltenham, England; J. Smith, B. Shapiro, M. Shapiro, of Brighton, England; A. Lioht, of Cleveland, Ohio; and B. Flamer, of Montreal, Que. Spring flowers and pink lighted tapers were arranged for the table.
Between Two Parties Affects Farms
Nearly twenty-six years of back-breaking toil aind sacrifice have gone into building up Ashdot Yaacov and bringing prosperity and security to the 1,000 men, women and children who live on the cooperative settlement. Now, because of a fierce political struggle between Israel's two workers' parties, the future of Ashdot Yaacov and many more Kibbutzim like it, is unsettled and endangered.
Ashdot Yaacov is a unit of Kibbutz Hameuchad (United Kibbutz Movement) the biggest cf Israel's federations of collective settlements. The smallest, Kibbutz Hakvutzot, is purely Mapai, the Socialist party led by Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion. Kibbutz Haatzi belongs entirely to Hash-omer Hatzair, the dominant group of pro-Soviet Mapam party.
It is only in the settlements of Kibbutz Hameuchad that members of the two parties are found in large numbers. Of Ashdot Yaacov's 465 adults, M'apai has a slight majority. In many of the federation's other seventy-nine settlements Mapam is in the majority air.d they hold a dominant position on the Centiul Council of tne federation.
A formal split in the central council was voted and the ideological struggle between the two parties has carried down from the top political level to the settlements. Each kibbutz in the federation presumably will decide its own future. But events at Ashdot Yaacov point the path to which they are headinig, says the New York Times.
Separate children's houses already have been established. The next school term each party will have its own school or Mapai will send its older children to a neighboring party school. Although they celebrated festivals, such as Passover, .together, Mapam and Mapai party members have virtually no other social contact. The Kibbutz no longer holes a general meeting of both groups.
Events appear to lead irrevocably to a final split in which, if it is possible, all kibbutz property will have to be divided or, more likely, one or the other side will have to leave the site.
In both Ashdot Yaacov and Givat Hashlosha, another settlement of Kibbutz Hameuchad near Tel Aviv, the struggle has come to a climax over the education of the children or on the issue of admitting new members who might upset the majority's position. But these have been excuses rather than the reasons and other excuses would have been found it these were not available.
