A Latvian language newspaper, Brivais Latvietis (Free Latvian) was published in Edmonton beginning June 15, 1948 until its merger in May 1949 with the Toronto newspapers Atbalss (Echo) and Kanadas Vestnesis (Canada Gazette) to form Briva Balss (Free Voice), which published until 1951. The complete run of Brivais Latvietis to April 15, 1949 has been digitized and is made available here.
