Festival Prgram
Viikinkien' aikakausi, i jolloin tmn kansaa miehi vaelsi-kaukai- silla merill, kesti hU" vuodesta 800 j.k. vuoteen 1050.
Now .we iinally have something concrete to work with as far as the big combined sports and music festival scheduled to take place in Sudbury this summer is concerned. In Tuesday's,paper the whole program of the tviro-day festival was published, .
An examinationolthe sports program will show that not a single sports event has been left out for any of the numerous classes. As a matfer of fact two events, the discus and ham- mer have heen added for the veterans. ^
Due to the factthat part of both Saturday and Sunday . afternoon wiU be devoted to thechoirs and bands, ali sports events will be started on time and ali competitors must be redy when it is time to start an event. If you're not there when an event starts; the only thing the officials can do is wish you better lucK next year.
It will be notedlrom the program that only morning and afternoon.starting times arelisted. That means that as soon as one event is rim off another will start and in niany cases one class wiU be competing in some event while another class is competing in another event. The officiaJs will endeavor to give as V much warmhg as possible over the P.A. system before an eveiit is started, but in some cases it will only be a matter of ten minutes or S O . ' But thei^participating athletes should"be able to remain on the fiel4 during during the competitions because there will be suffi^ient time to eatand do what is necessary during the lunch brealcs.
Those famiUar with previous sports programs will note that the Schedule Has been changed considerably from the past. ^Ap^ attempt has been made to have the big audience p!eSfroitSuhday during favourable times when the biggest nuirtbervOl-spectatrs cn be expected. As a .matter of fact the, whole. place Saturday at. 1 P.M. and the proposal is that the mixed choirs present their individual' niunbers at that time and possibly the men's and women's choirs wiil also be presenting the numbers they have rdiearsed for the festival on Saturday.
The Sunday afternoon program will be much the same as it.has been in the past with the exception that it will be much more varied and better because the mass ohoir presen* tations including the cantata will be on the program. Choir presentations wi'll be interspersed with gym and dance rou- tines and one program-number wiU be following another s<J fast that there will hardly be time for the M.C. to announce what is going on.. .Tlie spectators will hovvever have an excellent vantage point because they will be able to follow thie program from the grandstands. Although we certainly hope that^they won't ali fit into the grandstands.
The Sunday evening concert will also be a grand variety program with the best talent that Finni^-Ganadig[ns have to offer. The concert, will be held in the. spacious Mine-Mill Hall where there is room to seat over a thousand spectators. This wiUdefinitely be,the biggest and best program that has ever been pat on by Finnish-Canadians, so make sure you don't miss it.

aspirin than by any other substance. The "harmless* white tablets, a
familiar fixture in every medicine cabinet,^ send may scores of tod- dlers~ to hospitsi' emergency rooms each year.
They are responsible for more poisonings than lye, ammonia, roach powder, dean ing fluids, shoe polish and laundry bleach coml>ined. .
These facts are well-known to doctors. They apparentlyy are not SO wel l fcnown to parents, who per- siat In leaving:bottles of aspirin on the shelf next to the tooth paste, ritbin easy reach of small fry.
Doctors who attended tKe spring meeting of the American Academy of Pediatr icsl isted aspirin poison- ing as one of the major remaining menaces to childhoodhealth. Acade- my leaders urged a l i pediatrieians and the press to jo in in a campaign to wam parents of the danger.
"I f you have a child under four n yourhome"; said Dr. Harold Ja-
cobziner, assistant Health Corn missioner of New York City^ "you should treat aspirin l ike a deadly poison.
Jacofaziner said small /chiiren seein tif have a natural ftencbant
"They apparently like the taste of ordinary aspirin tablets, which most adults find bitter, as well as the flavored aspirin which are put up especially for children," he said,
This dangerous appetite is whet- ted, the doctor continued by parents who "foolishly teli a child that the aspirin the doctnr has prescribed for him is 'candy.'"
"Never tel! a child that any medi- cine is candy," lie said, waving his finger under a reporter's nose, ' T e l i them its medicine and the doctor said they should take just this much, no more."
Aspirin i n large enough quanti- ties is toxic even to adults. But it takes very much less to poison a child than to poison a grownup.
"Some children, especially when they are i l l , dp not tolerate aspirin well ," Jacobziner explained. "Even a relatively small amount can be hazardous to a very young shild. No parent should undertake to giye a chi ld aspirin without Consulting the doctor."
Once a child has gulped a fistful of aspirin, Jacoiiziner said, there are only two things a parent can do:
1. Blake faim vomit Immediately. 2. Get him to a fiospital as quick-
