Whiteflab. — is a very long
time since I have written and it may
be even longer until I write. agäln,
although I sincerely ;hope nqt. I wlll
admit that for the present I have
lost interest in our sports club, but
we have hioernated befote and we
will hibernate again. But never fear,
our interest; ini sports is stUl tbere
and so is our loyalty to the Federa-
tion. I call it our Federation even
though we haven't cared tp actively
:b*löi^:'for;:so^V'i^e/;*:'ff .';
But above our loyalty to the Fede-
ration is our loyalty to our club,
which was very active. Here, I heed
not elaborate, because the athletic
achievements of the Speed A.C.
speak for themselves. I catmot and
wlll not agree with the argument
that our. club will not be active
again. I cannot accept that at tbis
time. . -'■
And this brings me to the heart
of the matter, and to the rea&on
which has prodded me into writing
this letter. The matter is listed as
business humber one under.article 18
of the Federation 4 Annual Meetihg

have had offers to sell some of it,
but our membere decided to keep
it for possible future' use.; I am also
concerned1. wlth the future of - our
dearly' won trbphies. I do not haVe
any .pf them in my possesslon, but
members' of our: teams do have them;
Why: any one else should have them
is.beyond me.
AU of this is my persbnal opinion,
but I could not live with myself if
t allowed our :trpphie8';or equlpment
to be seized:: I have'rbelonged to the

: The Alerts Athletic Club had a really: invigorating- meet-
ing last week and a whde-riurnber: of matters were under
discussion. Äs a matjter bf factj there wCTe sö. mahy thm
discussed that some matters were overlöpked and will have
to be taken up at the next meetihg.
The main item of discussion was the club elimination
meet to decide{wh'o >yould participate in the various events
at the annual championship meet in Toronto which will be.
held as.part of the Suurjuhlas. 'Ähd the truth of the matter
isjhat we really do need an elimination meet to.make the
. final decisions. That is why the club decided that ali ath-
letes with aspirations to go to Toronto bver the first week-
end in August'will have to take part in the elimination meet
or theymight as well forget about their possibilities of
going. The only exception will bethat if someohe.is unable
to attend ,for a logical reason, then they must approach club
officials before the elimination meet and signify their rea-
son and also, indicate what eventsvthey would like to com-
pete in. -\ " ' '
To mäke the meet more interesting it was decided to
get aböut 20 first prizes to> be handed out to the vvinners of
various events. We felt that it.^ould be better this way >
instead of_getting' first, second and thirdplace prizes), as in ,
the pastl So, in,, othef wprds there will be twenty odd prizes
to competejpr on Sunda'y, July 19 atvthe Alerts field. The
meet will start. aV 10.00 Ä.M. and right on the nose so be out
in good time. ' , - ^t , >\ " * ~
. For ekample we could mentioh; that, the men's open
class prizes will be given for the,Winner"of the 200 m. high '
jump and discus drid in the women's class prizes will-be^
giyeri out for the 100/m., high jump and discus. Ali the classes "
will be given archance, fpr the trophies and there ,will even
be a swimming competitioh at Työn Puisto after the after- '
noon concert. It should also bepointed out that trials will
be run in ali events where there are more than three com-
petitors.' . ' i"'
, / As a matter of fact if will be a big day, because iri äddi-
tion to the sports, the choii* is planning a big program at
Työn Puisto for the afternoon; The day will actually afnount
