A novel feature this year will be the introduction of a B. C. class group in the men's doubles. ^ingle-handed>;the mixed team of . Tbml M'ijfuzawa and Jphr)ny Tahaka reaUy put the skids uii: Fellowship /rand \von the matfch for Hokutokai. Taking -on the strong: teanVof Aki Hyodo and Fat Rfatsulv early in the' match, Hbkutp^fti WU' won out after- three hard fought games, 15-4, l6-15; 15-6/.;. Shortly/ after, they defeated Fellowship's HIde Hyodo and fhornas Yoshida, to the surprise of eyeryone, arid Ho kutokais special delight.
The two unexpected losses seemed to break the "spirit of Fellowship," and as a result Hokutokai went on to take the match. Johnny's playing was particularly scintillating, his drop shots were deceptive, and his cross court drives very effective. He was de* finitely "on" as was his able partner, Tomi Mizuzawa, who played a keen and careful game. REVENGE
'The hitherto/ unuefeated team of '.Mich.I Ashikawa and Henry Arikado suffered their first .set-bacH-at the hands of Mi. Akiyama and Tommy Iwasaki. TrieL game was sweet revenge for the Koku tokai pair, which lost to the same team earlier in the season. They also beat Ernie and Dave Arikado in straight sets, 15-8, 15-9..
Fellowship needs a good "shot in the arm" to restore their fight and confidence, both of which were sadly lacking during the match. The final deciding encounter, a natural from " every angle, should be a humdinger. Badminton enthusiasts will gain valuable pointers and the fans wil be given plenty of thrills in the final match,.
