VANCOUVER, Deo, 17. An appropriation-of $200-to meet emergency needs in social service work among Japanese Canadians in the city arising out of the war situation was approved at a meeting yesterday morning of the Budget Committee of the Vancouver Welfare Federation in the Province building,
The request for this emergency appropriation was submitted by officials of the Jap-
anese branch attending the meeting. Assurances were also given to Mr. Y, Uchida and Kunio Shimizu, branch secretary, that in case of need, the committee would consider additional appropriations.
The Japanese Branch of the Welfare Federation has been a part of the metropolitan or-ganization for years. In this year's campaign, it raised a sum 50 per cent in excess of its quota allocation.
