Four floats were entered in the parade of 40 entries, three of them winning awards in the "Best Artistic Float" section. The entry of the Base-ball Club also received a prize.

Under the sponsorship of the CathoHe Chtm-h, the first Japanese evacuees arrived in Green-wOtxl on April 26, 1942. At present^ over 1,000 Japanese Canadians are settled permanently In the city and nearby areas. The majority of them are employed in the forestry Indus try. arid, the- railroad. .
Greenwood has nourished since the arrival of the first evacuee. Relations with older residents have been most cordial. Frbni Aprilqf this year, permission was granted to .purchase land and homes, bringing a feeling' bf permanency, and the Japanese Canadians are an integral part of the community.
