The fifth and sixth garnet of the 12-game schedule of the TKHL played at the Varsity Arena on Dec. 10 were slightly disappointing after the terrific pace that the teams has set in the past two weeks. The slow ice hampered the teams as Variety Grill subdued the Dan-forth Cleaners 5-3 and Homestead vanquished Nisei Flyers 2-1. Homestead are now on top vith 2 wins "and a tie far 6 pts., 'he Grillmen following with 1 vin and a tie for 3 pts. to-uncovered Ken Adachi whose aini was true. Danforth countered with Richard Kimura scoring from Tucker Uchikura but a minute later Maw Mori golf-shot one' from a pass by Adachi. Jimmy Morita sank the last Danforth goar assisted by Mas Kuroda. Only the superb goal tending of Tom Watanabe kept the score down as he made 16 saves to 8 for Goto. The final score read 5-3 as Ken Adachi made good from .Maw Mori.
Kob and Dick Kimura and Jim
ICoyanagi from Alberta formed
the hew third line for Danforth
and they showed a making of a
.good line.
The expected; battle between Homestead and Flyers turned out to be a rather tame affair. Flyers in is sed their go a lie. Ronnie Tsu'ji but Paul Tokiwa turned in an efficient job. Their second line, of Tom Takemura, Roy Ta-nakn and Ed Nishimpto found the going tough as they were bounced about by the Homestead rearguards. :
Homestead's .new recruit, Dave Takashima, assisted as Sat Ki-noshita tallied to open scoring. As Key: Tanaka sat. out a penalty, Flyers came to life to' tie up the game, Ben. Mori scoring. Checker Nishihiura of Home1-stead's scintillating first line tallied to put the game on ice; Goalie Nobby Fujimoto of Home-steacls put lip a ^brilliant perform* ance: and showed why he should rate as ;an Al.UStar goalie. He stopped 8 to Tokiwa's 6 in the second half.,.JEyial score was 2-1 for Homesteads. ;.." . .
On Dec. 17, Hoi\jestead and Vafiety will square away to decide who is the top dog of the league and Danfofths and Flyers will decide who will ;qccupy the cellar. ' "'.' . ". :
