benefit program ,in the form of "Variety Night''" is scheduled in Toronto for Friday, May 12, to aid the Tniversitv of Toronto Film Society in "-raising funds, to conclude' successfully the evacuation film project which has now become greatly enlarged in scope. .
Originally planned as a 20-minute film, it has been decided .to lengthen it into, one of -k>-minute time.. The. shooting was to have been complete/1 by early summer but it has. now been extended to next spring as the project has assumed major proportions necessitating a' change in plans.
.. "In order to record the ' full impact and significance of the evacuation story, a film of 20-minute length would not be plausible/' said- Fes/Carter, in charge of the production. "We would have to drop a lot of important shots, arid 'thVis sacrifice t he eni i re. film.. But rat her. than do that we've decided to double the film length/* ' ' ';

The .May 12 program is being arranged by a group of Nisei for the purpose-of making" a contribution towards a project which they feel is of concern to those who have physically experienced the evacuation.
