At its last annua! meetirtg last month, the .Wanderers adopted the policy of seeking to develop the game tKn'tighout Ontario, commencing -locally arid gradually enlarging the circle.

WESTERNS DRUBBED, JBS. UPSET LEADpS
Westerns sank lower in the West Toronto Baseball League cellar as they were walloped by West Yorks, K.'-o before 3,W< on July 4. .
The situation is developing in-. |o a 3-way battle between the leading Mayfairs, Mahers and West Yorks, as. only one and a half games separate thhe third place Yorks from-the top. Westerns bring up the rear badly in arrears with a dismal 4-11 record.
Trying to find ..another starter in the short-manned Westerns' pitching department, erstwhile third-baseman Mac Oikawa went to the hill only to be relieved by Ken-Ohara as the West Yorks put the game on ice with a G-run first inning splurge. : .
. Better -news came from r the junior front as /the. .teen-age Westerns, beat league leading Columbus on July 5. Hill Aoki's p.inch-hit >ing!e in .the seventh drove in the winning rim to make the final score 7-5.

When the Westerns travelled to Sudbury on July the home crowd ..rooting for them. Even in .their grounds at the St. Clair stadium, the Occidental fa;? in\3, pull for the Nisei boys. .
I.t might be because of their hustle, colour. ,,r t:-r, ?er: that the crowd loves an underdog.
The Montreal Niseis who play before regular c:-.,.,;.*,/., are the most popular team in the 12-team loop.
They play in a richly cosmopolitan league, m.o.st yf the ;. being French-Canadian with such names as St. Mich-;', s>, xa; St. Ceeile and so on. . ' -. ' ' .' ' ' - * ,''''.-''''- -'./''
The voluble, rapid boiling point of the' French-i'a'V.ad'ia!^ the notoriously slow boiling point and complacency.of ':>? Japa Canadians must offer quite a contrast whenever truro are : ments on close plays and such.
We often see a touch of that whenever we go''<in.\yn t-- l-/ 'Fleet Street Flats in Toronto to see the Triple A i^afs p'ay ba We get a kick whenever we see Frenchy Lapointe, Leafs' jnfie'dr-get into a "hey-rube". It. usually ends up.with Frenchy bo:p,g-thr-:out of the game. , . ' :
But we've yet to see a Nisei "holler guy". In their own Nisei leagues, they are always ready u argue a close decision and heckle the umpire but when they get 'iiito cc:r,r-e
