FORT WILLIAM, Ont. � Four Niseis bowling for the Odeon entry in the East End Athletic Association League took part in the two-day playoff for the Bad-onai Trophy and the championship. The Odeon team finished in third place.
In the first week of the final roll-off, Odeon with a total score of 3137 finished second behind MetaJ Craft's 3360; Dick Mitsu-naga who rolled a triple of 687 had a chance to knock off the O'Keefes' high single mark of 404 but ended up with.378. .
In the last week, Odeon dropped to third by .registering a 2909 score and a combined mark of C046 behind Metal Craft's winning G3G3. Shig- Mitsuki was the high bowler with 632.

TOKYO � The achievement of Japanese athletes in the Asian Games in New Delhi, India, provides the answer to the question as to what the effect has been of Japan's absence for 12 years from international competition. They garnered 212 points, thus topping the list, followed by India, Iran, the Philippines and Singapore, in that order.
The last occasion in which Japan's athletes participated in an international track meet was in Vienna in 1939. Then war intervened, taking a heavy toll of the athletes. Among the dead was Oe, pole vault and high jump champion and hero at the Berlin Olympics ..in 1936. .
With the cessation of hostilities, Japan's track and field world'revived. But progress was impeded by scarcity of athletic equipment aivd lack of playing fields.
The prospects of Japan's athletic world began to brighten about 1949. Japan's return to the International Amateur Athletic Association gave rise, to hopes that Japan inay be invited to the next Olympic Games.
