Club Rhapsody won first place in the Inter-City Junior League by edging Orphans 42-37 while Mustangs Jrs. defeated Barons 30-24 to finish in a second place tie with Orphans, Meanwhile Whi/z Kids took the first of the best of three semi-finals in the Toronto Senior by nipping Rebels '60-56., All three games took place las; Friday at St. Vladimir gym.
The Rhapsody-Orphans game was a ragged affair with the tUnesters having a-slight, edge on the shooting. Kaz Ishii, the league's high scorer, and Dave Sakamoto paced the winners with 14 and 12 pts. respectively while Jim Kamino got 11 for tire losers.
In the second game, Walt Ka-mitakahara with 12 points led the Mustangs Jrs. to their win over Barons in another .sloppily played game. Bob Adaehi was best for the losers with 8 pts.
The s >nior playoff struggle saw Whizz-Kids squeeze out - a thriller over the. Rebel's. The score read 58-50 with two minutes remaining - and the last basket was scored just as the horn sounded.it was a well-played game; handled by neutral referees, Harry Willis, and Tommy Orr, in which Yuk'i Ka'meo-ka, Aki Hayashi and Alan Fujiwara hit double figures for the winners with 17, 16 and 12 pts. respectively. Paul Hirano, however, took scoring honors with his woll-earned 20 pts. ';.'.-
