THE NEW CANADIAN
HAMILTON The Hamilton Niseis ran into two disastrous setbacks over the holiday weekend to extend their losing skein to six straight games being trounced by Caledonia and Dofa-seoa by 11-3 and 13-2 counts.
Niseis showed some great sportsmanship to the Caledonia fans and gained some more supporters. Niseis were victimized by some weird umpiring and were helpless as many obvious-1 ly bad decisions were called ug-i'inst them. H. Shimoda in particular was the victim of a bad call when he slid home on Hashimoto's grounder and was called out before the catcher could tag him, and with no apparent reason, was thrown out of the game before he could turn around to protest.
Niseis were weak offensively, garnering only, six hits, four of them going to the Shimoda brothers. Shintani started for the Niseis but. was ineffective in tho .early; stages although he settled down in the later innings.
.Mike Honda made his pitching debut for Niseis against Dofas-. cos and suffered the ignominy of being pummeled for 1 (> hits,' many of them the pop fly variety; Mits Shimoda stole home to give Niseis their first run and Kariat-sumari scored the other run on .an error.
Niseis have' gathered together a creditable 'infield but unless manager Roy Yamamura strengthens his inept outfield, the losing Streak may be extended. Niseis have won two against six losses. G. K.
