'BANANA CAKE
one-quarter pound butter one cup sugar two eggs
one teaspoon vanilla flavoring
one teaspoon baking soda
two bananas
one and one-half cups flour
one-half teaspoon salt
four tablespoons sour cream
one teaspoon baking powder
Mash bananas. Cream butter and sugar together; add beaten eggs, vanilla, and bananas. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together once. To the banana mixture, add alternately: the flour mixure and sour cream, to which bos been added the baking soda. Bake in 350-degree oven, for three-quarters of an hour. After heat has been turned off, let cake stand in oven for fifteen minutes.

one cup shortening one cup brown sugar three-quarters cup sour milk
two cups flour one teaspoon baking soda two cups rolled oats one-half teaspoon salt
Cream shortening; mix in brown sugar and dry ingredients, alternately with the milk. Roll out on a floured board to one-quarter inch thick, and cut in oblongs or rounds. Bake in a greased sheet, in a hot oven, until brown. While cookies ar6 still hot, spread with date filling or thick plum jam, making sandwiches of the cookies, pressing the cookies together. Roll in icing sugar.

LAWYER WAS NOTED AS WELFARE BOARD HEAD
A funeral service was held at the Jewish Community Center at White Plains, N.Y., for Lawrence S. Greenbaum, noted trial and ap-pelate attorney, who was former chairman of the New York State Board of Social Welfare. He died in his home, at 724 Stuart Avenue, Mamaroneck, at the age of 62.
Rabbi Lawrence W. Schwartz, of the Center, conducted the brief service, which was attended by 250 relatives and friends from the court, bar, government and club circles in which Mr. Greenbaum was active. Burial was in the family plot at Temple Israel Cemetery, Mount Hope, Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.
Herbert A. Wolff, a member of the New York law firm of Greenbaum, Wolff & Ernst, of which Mr. Greenbaum was senior partner, paid tribute in- a eulogy to the associate with whom he had been intimate for forty years as "a fellow student, law partner and warm friend."
Emphasising the "deep love which all of us have for Laurie Greenbaum," he extolled "the grand 4�*liti�� which endeared him to so many in all walks of life."
Among those present were representatives of the State Surpeme Court, state, county and city bar groups, the State Board of Social Welfare, of which Mr. Greenbaum served as a member and chairman under Governors Lehman and Dewey; the State Department of Insurance, of which he was former special counsel;.the Elks and the Beach Point Club, Mamaroneck, of which he was a founder and first president.

teachers in- the field. A folk dance festival showed the Israel folk dance, "Mayim" (Water) dnrinjf the celebrations making the opening of the great Shasta Dam which took place during the institute. The background and teaching of the Israel folk dances were presented by Mrs. Dvora Lapson of the Jewish Education Committee of New York.
