Mr. and Mrs. Henry Zylberberg, 4G42 La Peltrie Street, celebrated the bar-mitzvah of their son, Jack, who was called to the Reading of tho Law, at Beth Hamedrash Ha-gadol Synagogue. He is the brother of Frank, aged sixteen years; grandson.of the late Mr. and Mrs. Z. Zylberberg; and of the late Mr. and Mrs. F. Fain; all of Poland. Kiddush, was observed. Mrs. Zylberberg wore a white, silk brocade ensemble; with a white, and black hat. The same evening Mr. and Mrs. Zylberberg entertained two hundred guests at a dinner dance in the Synagogue hall. The hostess wore a pink, silk, shantung gown, worked with beads; with a corsage of mauve orchids. The family sat at the head table. The bar-mitzvah boy made a speech. Mrs. .Rachel Moscovitch Yudel-son, 4860,Quevillon Street, died on Monday, December 27, at home. She is survived by her husband, Harry Yudelson; and two sisters; Mrs. Lizza Feigen, and Miss Mita Moscovitch, both;of 4855 St. Catherine Road. serving with the Canadian Army. The one truck which the brothers bought to haul fish and fruit between New York and Montreal has grown today into a fleet of more than fifteen.-hundred. Vehi-cles, and the business has developed into a multi-million-dollar international, freight-hauling operation. They were joined by their five brothers as the firm grew; and in I960 they opened a $2,-250,000 headquarters terminal at 7401 Newman Boulevard, in La-Salle. It is one of the largest in North America. Mr. Maislin was a retired vice-president.
Lazarus P. Silver, of Ocho Rios, Jamaica, formerly of Montreal, the widower of Mrs. Maude Samuel Silver, died suddenly on Thursday, December 2, in Ocho -Rios, at the age :of eighty-three years. He is survived by two sons: Harris Silver,-634 Sydenham Avenue; Arthur Silver, 518 Lansdowne Avenue; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Usher, 4647 Roslyn Avenue; a brother, Samuel Silver, 6084 Cote St. Antoine Road; a sister, Mrs. P. N. Jacobson (May), 4850 Cote St. Luc Road; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services took place from Papferman's. Dr. Harry J. Stern. Rabbi, officiated. Burial was at Temple Emanu-El Cemetery. Mr. Silver spent the first part of his life in Kingston, Ont.; and graduated from Queen's University in 1902. After graduation he became a high school teacher in Quebec City, Quebec, until he entered Columbia University and received a degree in mining engineering. For a time he was employed by the Ontario Department of Mines and Forests. He was one of the pioneer developers in the Porcupine gold-mining district. He moved to Montreal in 1910, and ultimately entered the fur business, for a quarter of a century, owning and operating a company. He retired from busir ness in 1942, and made his home in Ocho Rios. During the early years of the Jewish Federation of Philanthropies. Mr. Silver served on one occasion as chairman of the annual fund-raising campaign. He was a member of Temple Emanu-El.
