Louis Quint, 922 Dunlop Avenue, died on Friday, July 10. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Esther Bindraan Quint; a son, Theodore, 924 Dunlop Avenue* two grandchildren, Steven and Harriet; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Theodore Quint (nee Arlene Hoi-linger) ; three brothers, Simon, Jack, and Isadore Quint; and three
School, inspected the department of experimental medicine and cancer research, and spoke on his investigations in cancer to scientists working under Dr. Jack Gross, former Montrealer, who heads the department At the Hebrew Uni-yerslty-Hadassah Medical School,
sisters: Mrs. Gertrude Kofman. Mrs. Jack Faistat (Ida): and Mrs. Samuel Chodoa (Debbie); all of Montreal. Funeral services took place from Paperman's. Rabbi S. Herschorn and Rabbi Morris Werner officiated. Burial was at Chevra T'hilim Cemetery. Mr. Quint came to Canada from Russia in 1908 and shortly thereafter established himself- in the haberdashery business from which he retired in 1945. He was president of Chevra T'hilim Synagogue-from 1945 to 1955, an official of the synagogue for the past year; a board member of the Jewish Community Council of Greater Montreal; for the past fifteen years, treasurer for the United Hebrew Cemeteries; and was a member of Mount Royal Lodge of Bnai Brith for thirty-five years.

Dr. Jonas Salk, originator of the Salk anti-polio vaccine, received the highest honor that Israel's Hebrew University can bestow during his recent visit there, when Dr. Benjamin Mazar, president .of the University conferred an honorary doctorate of philosophy upon him. The ceremony was watched by an overflow audience and attended by Premier Ben Gurion, other dignitaries of the country, and distinguished visitors from abroad.
Prof. Moshe Rachmilewitz, Dean of the Hebrew University Medical Faculty, read the citation lauding Dr. Salk for the discovery which has saved thousands from suffering and death and "earned him the gratitude of mankind as a whole." Premier Ben Gurion characterized Dr. Salk as one of the greatest scientists in the world and also as a great humanist He said that Salk was a representative of the powerful, creative forces that existed in United States Jewry and symbolized the spiritual partnership between the constructive pioneers of Israel and the leading intellectual elements in the United States.
As he rose to give his prepared address on "Man In Evolution", Dr. Salk received a tumultous ovation, saying that: "This has been a much more moving experience than I had anticipated." Dr. Salk visited the University campus at Givat Ram and the Medical
