ar.d the Brownsville section in Brooklyn, pointing out that Jewish merchants and landlords, despite the changes, remained.
"When the Negro sees the white businessman or the person to whom he must let out frustrations," the Commissioner said, "in the overwhelming majority of the instances it is frequently a Jew," reports the New York Times. However, he

EDUCATOR BLAMES SCHOOLS AND HOMES
(Continued from Page One)
Today the Jewish home and the Jewish school are mutually contradictory, and the child unlearns at home what he has learned at school."
Yet concerned parents, said Dr. Breslau, want the schools "to create instant Jews out of the ashes of ignorance and by some alchemy not yet known."
In support of his contentions, the speaker cited a three-year Btudy by the association among 1,051 Jewish teen-agers and college students.
According to the study, "Jew-
ish adolescents, like their peers in the general community, are in full retreat from the home and have often found their religious schooling dull and vapid."
As partial remedy for this situation. Dr. Breslau urged "un interior decoration of the Jewish home
to refurbish it spiritually and intellectually," says the New York Times. Centralization of Jewish schools, with "communal" systems in each large area, was advocated by the conference chairman, Judge Simon E. Sobeloff of the Court of Appeals.
