Southern women seldom dress in the fluffy Southern belle manner traditionally associated with them. They like to look pretty and know the value of pale colors and femiinine touches, but they are intensely fashion conscious and enjoy dicssiui; up, especially iu the cuiiim;.
F.vcnwhere in the South yon will need a coat for winter. In resort cities, wjiite or pastel coats arc worn in midwinter, but generally the South follows the same seasonal fashion cycle as the Mast, with of course. Summer being a much longer season.
Pastel tweeds arc favored from January on. Light colored silk and cotton clothes are basics in the resort cities and in the whole of the South from April tlnouqh September.

Iu the Southwest there is a great deal of outdoor sports and outdoor ciitcrtilining, with a resulting need for active sports clothes, play clothes, spectator suits and dresses, and full-skirted patio or barbecue dresses for at home parties.
In the Northwest it rains often. A good raincoat is a recommended investment.

Nine months of the year require a coat of some kind; it is wise to begin assembling coats that blend with all the colors in your wardrobe and give you good protection for very cold and moderate temperatures.
Wool suits, day dresses and separates should nuke up the bulk of your winter wardrobe.
The summers, though short, arc apt to be very hot. Simple, lightweight day dresses in dark or cool colors look best on sweltering city streets.

Arc you and your husband-to be homebodies?
Incltule at least one lounge or hostess costume.
What will you do weekends?
Ite sure to consider clothes for any active sports in which you and your husband participate. If you live in a big city, you ivill need some country clothes for weekends.
Arc you marrying a military man?
Make your trousseau compact, your living quarters are likely to be small.
Will you live on a college campus?
Von will wear mostly sports clothes, but allow for at least one evening dress' and one informal party dress.
Will you attend business conventions in a big city with your husband?
Your basic wardrobe, if it is good, will take yon there ond home again ivith success and well-being. A good quality day dress, a perfectly fitting sttit ivith two pretty blouses, a be-coming shoit party dress will accom-moilale any program unless a formal dinner or dance is announced in advance.

The word "trousseau" derives from the French word troussc, for bundle. Literally then, your trousseau is anything you carry with you to your hew-home.
The average bride thinks of her trousseau as hor personal wardrobe of clothing, jewels and accessories considered separate and apart from household items.
A" frequent question asked by a prospective bride is how much clothing should she buy and how long should she expect it to last? If possible your trousseau; taking into consideration what yon already have, should include one year's supply of outerwear and accessories; two years' supply of lingerie, negligees; and coats chosen to last for a number of years. For example:
2 suits 1 casual, 1 dressy
6 daytime dresses 3 for winter; 3 for summer
6 party dresses for afternoon, cocktail and informal evenings 3 for winter, 3 for spring and summer
1 hostess gown or at-bome costume

TWO N.Y. TYCOONS OF WOMEN'S WEAR INDUSTRY RETIRE
(Continued from Page Ten) clothes also designed by Mr. Kidd. It was successful, he says, but not the answer.
"Fashion is changing women want car coats, knitted siiiti, suMe coats and raincoats," he observed. Under present union niles, he could not go into these fields. If he should go back into business, he said, it would be with a flexible enough setup to produce these styles, says the New York Times, or follow any of fashion's newer whims.
