The annual Histadrut Campaign is being launched in Halifax, N.S. A cultural evening, on October 8, at 8 p.m., at Beth Israel Synagogue, will present Samuel Lapin, lecturer and journalist, as guest speaker. He is a graduate of Dropsie College (Philadelphia) and received a Master's degree at Columbia , University. Mr. Lapin is executive director of the Labor Zionist Movement in Canada. On his way to Cape Breton, A. M. Shurem, national executive director of the Canadian Histadrut Campaign, will also address the gathering. Dr. W. Yaphe and Jack Mintz are chairmen of the Halifax Histadrut League; Morris Weiner, secretary-treasurer; Jack Rafuse, publicity chairman; League members: H. S. Solomon, H. I. Jacob-son, D. Cuperfajn, M. Kohler, E. Rafuse, S. Goldfarb, L. Goldfarb, H. Newman. Mr. Shurem will address an open meeting in Glace Bay, on Sunday, October 16, at the Talmud Torah Hall, on "The Contribution Of Israel To Independence And Peace In Asia And Africa" to open the campaign in Cape Breton. The chairman will be Saul Bernick, a Histadrut leader.
