ALEXANDOR-BIRKS
The marriage of Miss Virginia Birks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald A. Birks, 34 Sunnyside Avenue, to Michael Jonathan Brundell Alexander, son of Mr. and Mrs. Felix J. Alexander, 4855 Cote St. Luc Road, was held in the Unitarian Church of the Messiah, on Friday, September 21, at four o'clock. Reverend Leonard Mason officiating. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She was gowned in champagne-coloured organza, fashioned on princess lines, with the bouffant skirt continuing as a long train appliqued with Calais lace. Her floor-length veil was of heirloom lace; and she carried a semi-cascade bouquet of gardenias and ivy. Mrs. James Mac-dougall was matron of honour for her cousin. Miss Shirley Ambridge was bridesmaid. Each wore a gown of moss-green peau de soie cut with a fitted bodice; scooped neckline; and full skirt of unpressed pleats; also a small hat of matching, crushed silk, with a short veil; and carried a semi-cascade bouquet of yellow Shasta daisies, and ivy with slight touches of red gladioli blossoms. Jennifer Chadwick, as flower girl for her aunt, was in a dress of organza over champagne-coloured taffeta; with a fitted, lace cap; and carried a nosegay of white Shasta daisies. Gordon S. Currie was best man. The ushers were: Evan G. Birks, brother of
the bride; Jack Cains, and Jack Ogilvie. Candles in candelabra, and standards of white gladioli decorated the church. Mrs. Birks, the bride's mother, wore a muted-gold-coloured, Thai silk gown; and a mint-green hat; and her flowers were a corsage bouquet of green orchids. Mrs. Alexander, the groom's mother was in a gown of beige souffle brocade, with its own jacket; and had a hat of brown ostrich feathers; and a corsage bouquet of rust-coloured orchids. Following the ceremony, a reception took place at the Montreal Badminton and Squash Club which was decorated with white snapdragons, and pink carnations, and candies. Here for the marriage were: Mr. and Mrs. Evan B. Birks, Miss Noelle Mercanton, Mr. and Mrs. L. Lamont Gordon, Richard Locke; all of New York; Mr. and Mrs. Bernard M. Alexander, uncle and aunt of the groom; Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Chipman, of Ottawa, Ont.; Mr. and Mrs. Ross Ryrie, Miss Barbara Ryrie, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ryrie, Mrs. William P. Wilder, Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Hermant, cousins of the groom; Mrs. David Eisen, al! of Toronto, Ont.; and Mr. and Mrs. Louis G. Erskine, of Scarsdale, N. Y.
BLANSHAY-SAMUELS
The marriage of Miss Evelyn Samuels, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Moe Samuels, 921 Hartland Avenue, to Leonard Blanshay, son of Mr. and Mrs. Saul Blanshay, 5615 Woodbury 'Avenue, took place at Chevra Kadisha-Bnai Jacob Synagogue, on Sunday, September 2, at half-past six o'clock. Rabbi David
Roth officiated, assisted by Cantor Joshua Rosenzweig, and Reverend A. H. Greenberg. The bride was, given in marriage by her parent^ She was gowned in ivory-coloured antique satin appliqued with Alefi' con lace, seed-pearl-beads, and crystals, and cut with a fitted bodice; high neckline; short sleeves; and full skirt with a lorii train. Her veil of tulle illusion wai topped by a matching pill-box hat} and she carried a bouquet of white orchids and stephanotis. Miss Bryna Greenberg was her cousin^ maid of honour, wearing a golo-coloured, peau de soie gown, made with a bell-shaped skirt; and a matching tiara; and her flowers were red roses. The bridesmaids were: Misses Bunny, and Eleanor Post, cousins of the groom; Paula Greenberg, cousin of the bride; and Dorothy Gordon. Each wore a gold-coloured, peau de soie gown which had a bell-shaded skirt; also a matching, pleated, pill-box hat; and carried a bouquet of red roses. Mans Gordon, aged four years, cousin of the bride, as flower girl, was in a yellow, organdy, party dress; with a garland of white carnations in her hair; and carried a basket of rose petals. Melvin Blanshay was best man for his-brother. The ushers were: Norman Samuels, brother of the bride; Leon Klorfine, Arthur Kahlenberg, and Marc Rosenstein. Stewart Pinsky, cousin of the groom; and Morris Greenberg, cousin of the bride, were junior ushers. White gladioli, carnations, and red roses were the wedding flowers. Mr. and Mra. Leonard Blanshay spent their wedding trip in the Southern United States, the bride departing in a mauve, knitted suit; and had a corsage of pink orchids. They have taken up residence at 6510 Wilderton Avenue.
WIENSTEIN-BERNSTEIN
The marriage of Miss Sharon Wienstein, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hyman Wienatein, 4710 Circle Road, to Norman 'Bernstein, son of Mrs. Charles Bernstein, of Brooklyn, N. Y., and-the late Charles Bernstein, took place at the Windsor Hotel, on Sunday, September 2, at half-past five o'clock, Rabbi J. J. Zlotnick officiating. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She was gowned, in silver white satin. It wag made with a fitted bodice and an over-blouse with rose appliques of ribbon lace, with a high neckline; and the bell-shaped skirt had a slight train. Her Ion� veil of tulle illusion was combined with a matching lace flower; and she carried a cascade bouquet of gold-coloured cymbidium orchids. Miss Jeannette Wienstein as maid of honour for her sister, was in a pale gold-coloured, peau de soie sheath; with a matching circlet of velvet and satin leaves. Isobel Wienstein was junior bridesmaid for her sister, in a pale-gold-coloured, peau de soie gown which had a bell-shaped skirt; with a matching Juliet cap. Susan Unger, niece of the bridegroom, as flower girl, wore a yellow and white, organdy, party dress; and a yellow bandeau. Gerald Unger acted as best man for his brother-in-law. The ushers were: Ronald Adelson, Sheldon Adelson, Norman Essner, Robert Gertner, Ian Karper, Michael Katz, William Pencer, and Brahm Steinberg. Standards of white gladioli and chrysanthemums decorated the Synagogue. Mrs. Wienstein, mother of the bride, was in an off-white and gold-coloured brocade gown, with a hat of draped, gold-coloured mesh. Mrs. Bernstein, mother of the groom, was in a gown of beige silk, embroidered with gold-coloured beads; with a matching hat. Each had a gold-coloured, orchid corsage. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Bernstein spent their wedding trip at the Concord Hotel, in Kiamesha Lake, N. Y., the bride departing in a pale yellow silk suit. Mr. and Mrs. Bernstein have taken up residence in Forest Hills, N. Y.
