Shabbos Shubah
The Sabbath of Septerilber 15, coming; in the midst of the ten penitential days between Rosh Hashonah and Yom Kippur is designated by a special name. It is known as Shabbos Shubah, the Sabbath of repentance. Services will be held at 10.15 on this Sabbath with ser-. mon~~and choir. This school will open on Sunday morning, September.16, at 10.00 o'clock, in view of the limited space available for new pupils, members are urged to register their children on this Sunday. Children seven years of age and over are eligible. ; v . ._' - ;'
A new department haiTbecn inaugurated in this; school, a special Hebrew class, meeting once a week on week-clay afternoons from 4 to 5.30. This class will meet in the svnagoguechambers .on Bond Street. Subjects of instruction will be Hebrew reading, grammar, translation. Special teachers are being .engaged for this purpose. This will give the children who attend our school an opportunity of learning Hebrew. Instruction will l)e free, .

The Collegiate Department will convene at the Jewish Community House on -St. George Street. All of l�$t year's pupils are requested, to fee in attendance on Sunday .September 16, at 10,00 a.m. Boys and girls, 14 years of age and over, attending the city coUegiates, are eligible. A new class will be formed this year. It is hoped that the two highest classes will be graduated in May, having completed a three years, course. They will then be eligible to become Sunday School teachers. The subjects of instruction in thw department will be Jewish history from the period of the Talmud to mpdern times, The Jewish prophets, selected Jewish literature and pedagogy.

Yom Kippur Services
The Yom Kippur services will commence in the following hours in the University Avenue Synagogue.. The Kol Nidre service on Wednesday night, the eve of Yom Kippur, will commence at 6.15, and the morning services on Thursday, September 20, will commence at 6.30 o'clock in the morning and continue all day. The reading of the scroll will come at about 9.45 o'clock, and the rnussaf service at 11 o'clock. Neilah, the closing service, will cornmeiice at 4.30 and conclude at suncfown.
Rabbi Siegel will spe^k before Koi Nidre ana'the eve of Yom Kippur, after the reading of the scroll on Thurs-day morning and before the .Neilah services in the afternoon.
APPEALS FOR FUNDS FOR NEW TALMUD TORAH
The Hebrew Free School and Social Centre which is being built oh Brunswick. Avenue, is sending out committees to the various Synagogues to appeal for payment of old pledges and securing new ones.. �50,000 is required for the completion of the .building before the bad weather sets in, and the building committee is confident that the Jews .of Toronto will do their duty by this institution.
