The Upsilon Chapter, Zeta Beta Tau Fraterrtity, held its annua! ball at the Windsor Hotel on March 8, Dr, and Mrs. H. Abramowitz and Mr. and Mrs. Edgar M. Berliner were the patrons and patronesses. UNITED SYNAGOGUES HONOUR PETER BERCOVITCH
At a recent meeting of the United Synagogues, a resolution was passed expressing the thanks of the members to Peter Bercovitch for his stand on the School Question, and for his speech before the legislative Assembly at Quebec, opposing the creation of a separate panel for the Jews. This resolution, illuminated by Lucille Cqrcos, daughter of Rabbi Joseph Corcos, will be presented to him.
MIKADO TO BE GIVEN BY CHORAL AND DRAMATIC SOCIETY
The Choral and Dramatic Society of the Shaar Hashomayim Synagogue will present the Gilbert and Sullivan comedy, "The Mikado," at His Majesty'sTheatre, March 30. Chows and principals have been rehearsing steadily for four months. The leads are as follows: Mikado, Phil Abbey; Nanki-Poo, Gordon Lipsey; Ko-Ko, Alec Silver; Pooh-Bah, Jay Wolfe; Pish-Tush, Abe Rother; Yura-Yum, Etta Pinsler; Pitti-Sing, Leola Lewis; Peep-Bo, Rose Klein; Katisha, Raizel Starkman.
HEBREW LECTURER
Dr. B. M. Lewin, of Haifa, Palestine, one of the few experts on the so-called (k>anic Literature (which embraces the literary products of the Babylonian Rabbis, flourishing from 650 A.D. to 1050 A.D.), lectured in Hebrew at the Zionist Institute last Saturday evening under auspices of the Zionist Society "Hathia," on the "Recovery of four centuries of lost Hebrew literature."
