W. L. Mackenzie King.
From the Premier of New Brunswick
The roots of our faith are to be found in the history of your race. The Ark of your Covenant is ours also. For us, as well as for you, Moses bore the tablets of the law to the waiting multitude. Through all the story of war and of wrath and of vengeance, which your sacred historians have given to us, there always sound the silver notes of justice and mercy and peace. These, with the priceless record of leaching of human libertya teaching which no other religion of its time has given to the world in such degreeform our common inheritance from the past. We, therefore, in spirit, celebrate with you the entrance into a New Vear which, if we make it so, may also be a year of jubilee in which the slave shall find his freedom and the burdened earth rejoice under showers of mercy.
John B. M. Baxter.
From the Prime Minister of the Province of Quebec
On the occasion of the celebration, by our Jewish fellow-citizens, of their High Holidays and Day of Atonement, I take much pleasure in congratulating them on their endeavour to contribute in every possible way to the progress and development of our country.
The problem that had sprung up with respect to the education of their children in the Province of Quebec has been submitted to the highest tribunal in the British Empire, and a solution has been suggested that may give complete satisfaction to each and all.
I hope that the Jewish population of the Province of Quebec will always have cause to be fully satisfied with the spirit of tolerance and understanding by which each government has in turn made it a rule to abide.
L. A. Taschereau.

From the Premier of Manitoba
The round of the months brings once more the approach of the on when the beginning of the Jewish NeW'Year is marked by the anient and beautiful observances and ceremonies which for century at'er century, down the ages, have formed part of the fabric of Jewish It is with special pleasure that I welcome the privilege of ex-ling on th!s occasion my sincere good wishes for peace, prosperity ' happiness to every member of the Jewish community and to y Jewish household in our province.
From the most ancient time of which there is record no people given the world a higher example of family life, no people has cherished a more inspiring conception of the holiness of the home. To the Jewish people the High Holy Days have always meant a senous looking backward over the past year and a looking forward in tht same spirit to the duties and obligations of the coming year.
This is the spirit of which the world stands in the greatest need. Faith in the strength of right living and in the power of righteousness >s the reality which does not pass away r and-through which humanity can work out the fulfilment of an ancient promise. In the light of ese thought* I desire to express again sincerely, with all my heart, my greetiajMuri beat wishes to my Jewish fellow-Canadians,
