I have great pbwure in wishing to the Jewish citizens of Alberta ,,;ul Canada all good wbhe# for their Individual and collective happi-iicss and prosperity on the occasion of their New Year,
The Jewish people have, by setting up a high standard of civic ideals, won the esteem of the rest of the community, and by the unswerving adherence to these ideas they will surely achieve great tilings not only for themselves but the community at large of which liny form a part.

Certain annual events such as the High Holidays in celebration of the New Year and Day of Atonement which the Jewish people the world over are preparing to observe, have come to be regarded as "milestones." THey mark the ending of a definite period and the st.irt of a new, and naturally, I think, they have acquired a solemnity whuh has in it something more than racial and religious loyalty and tradition.
"It is greatly wise to talk with' our past hours, and ask them what report they bore to Heaven," one of our poets has said. We find, therefore, that celebrations such as these the Jewish people plan are conducive to individual stock-taking as affects the past, and to high resolve to better things as affects the future,
So my sincere wiah on the occasion of your celebration of the NeA Year and Day of Atonement is that the Jewish people resident in Canada, as a people, standing, I hope, at the threshold of a new era of happiness and prosperity, dedicate themselves to loyal service to the province and Dominion in which they have found that haven of refuge and freedom from discrimination *hich their forefathers so^ht through the ages to find at last under the British flag.
The Jewish population of Saskatchewan is not large, but its members are making a material contribution to the culture and development of the province. They have commended themselves as citizens of a high type, thrifty, moral and industrious, and are finding
Saskatchewan ft worth-while place in which to fashion a home ft themselves and for their children, Saskatchewan as a home provh Canada as a home land, deserve the love and service of loyal sons daughters of whatever race or creed they be, 1 bespeak a place this love and loyalty in the services of a reconsecration which mj your celebrations,

Noting the fact that the 15th of September ushers in the Jew* High Holidays and celebration of the NewYear and Day of Atonement, 1 have pleasure in extending to all your readers my hearty good wis! for prosperity, health and happiness, urging upon them their duty i&\ live up to the noble tradition* of their ancient race by maintaini^< best standards of Canadian citizenship. Canada for many years pa*C% has extended the fullest possible rights of citizenship to the Jewiefc'^ race, and as Canadian citizens they enjoy the protection of just law$<i impartially administered, together with full freedom of thought smrfif act within such laws, and it should never be forgotten that these^ privileges call for an equally unreserved recognition of that responsibility that the Jewish race shares with all otheT Canadians,to conduct themselves as exemplary citizen3f and to strive always for the-highest standards of thought and action, not only in public but m private life.
Trusting that a high resolve to keep in mind the obligations thaf go with the enjoyment of full citizenship will constitute a prominent part in the solemn celebration next month by our Jewish compatriots-/,'; and renewing my good wishes for all prosperity.
Believe me, yours sincerely,
L. GOLDfE.
