Mr. and Mrs. George Freeman and daughter, Eileen Shirley, Bernard Street West, have left for a trip to New York, Boston and Washington.
Mrs. D. Fraid has returned from Indianapolis, where she was the guest of her sister, Mrs. Cohen, for several months. She also visited friends in Detroit.
Mr. and Mrs. Phil Meyerovitch and son have moved from St. Luke Street to the Statler Apartments, corner Dorchester and St. Mark.
Mrs. H. Evans and Mrs. H. Share, of Vancouver, are visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Glazer, St. Urbain Street.
GRADUATES TAKE PRIZES
Extravagances in modern life, especially extravagance in time and excessive entertainment, form one of the chief dangers to be avoided by the youth of to-day, Dr. E. I. Rexiord declared when delivering the address to the graduates at the commencement exercises of the sixth forma of the Montreal High School, held in the assembly hall of the school, Saturday night, under the presidency of Rev. James Smyth, LLJD., chairman of the Protestant Board of School Commissioners. Prizes were given as follows: June class, Bella Lazarus; Commissioners' silver medal as head of science division, Phyllis Magnus; Edith Silver, memorial scholarship ($100,) Rose Zaha-lon; Governor-General's silver medal, head of classical division, Lewis Mendelsohn; Murray Latin prize, Isadore Bernstein; Alliance Francaise prize, Lewis Mendelsohn; and R. Squire Hall prize, Lewis Mendelsohn.

TO ESTABLISH JEWISH SCHOOL IN N.D.G.
At a meeting at the home of H, Dorfman, 318 Marlowe Avenue, $1,000 was raised to establish a branch of the Jewish People Schools in N.D.G. The house committee, including H. Dorfrnan, M. Borenstein and H. C. Sabloft, is making a survey of the best location for a Jewish school in N.D.G. A general meeting of parents and others was held October 11, at Empress Hall, N.D.G. S. Wiseman and M. H. Myerson spoke, The following were elected on the finance committee: J. Cohen, S. Clarke, H. Dorfman, C. Spector, H. Sablor and M. Dickstein, Among the contributors to the initial fund, are J. Cohen P.'Cohen, H. Dorfman, I. Cohen, 5. Clarke, C. Spector, H. Sablott, h. M. Caiserman, M. Borenstein, J, Shatrar., M. Dickstein and S. CHURCH AND SYNAGOGUE PARADE
All Jewish troops meet at the >;>ar^ and Portuguese Synagogue, where Rabbi Bender will preside over ^rvice, October 14, at 3 p.m. After the services the Jewish troops will parade to Montreal High-School to meet other troops, joining the parade alone: Sher-brooke Street West. The salute will m taken at the Art Gallery. A. M-Machlovitch is in charge. Jewish advisory committee, under the chairman ship of Rabbi H.
