The many, friends op Mr. Irving Riddell will be pleased to know op his recent promotion to an official position in the montreal office of the Canada Life Assurance Co. Mr. Riddell came to Montreal from the United States as'a stranger two and a half tsars ago, and although handicapped by lack of connection, has made an enviable record for himself in the insurance field. Before coming to Montreal, Mr. Riddell was connected with the Spectator Co. of New York, Insurance Statisticians, and it is through this connection that Mr. Riddell gained the knowledge which to-day makes him so valuable as an insurance specialist. The experience of Mr. Riddell might prove as a valuable lesson to anyone leaving
Canada for other parts looking for opportunities.

Sisterhood's third annual cookery sale Thursday, October 25, at Spanish and Portuguese Vestry Rooms. Tea. Non-mem bers invited.
The "Renommee" Virgin Milk performs three essential and different functions.
First: It replaces, with advantage, all creams or massage pastes, and dispenses with the aid of water, compresses and all the usual accessories.
Second: It produces the utmost perfection in toilet, with or without powder, giving a natural whiteness and soft satiny touch to the complexion, and this without becoming visible to the eye when dry provided
that it is used properly. In fact the clear white that results is seen simply as that of a naturally beautiful skin; and no one, without knowing that it has been used, can possibly suspect its presence. It
is also most delicately perfumed.
Third: Prolonged use acting as a tonic on tjhf skin and glands, through the pores, results in establishing relative and natural suppleness, freshness nd lustre.
It is not superflous to indicate a fourth and double function which has an important bearing on the others on account of the foresight with which it is examined: that there is no longer any obstruction of the sweat glands for the reason that the pores entirely absorb the

the whole system; respiration through the pores remains free and a number of illnesses, of which many women complain bitterly without suspecting the cause, are avoided. the cause is simply the absorption of the salts of lead with which nearly all cosmetics and paints are loaded. in fact, a slow, natural and permanent result is to be expected rather than a temporary and artificial manifestation provided that its usb is not overdone; for by applying layer on layer, that "plastered" complexion will resulta thing heartily detested by" men who fear that lacklustre deception may lie beneath the ma5e o? artificial brilliancy.
