$10.000 wa-s cabled through the Krrerpeney Fund under the chairmanship of Mrs. A. J. Freiman. of Ottawa. This sum will be distributed !rt T'alestine. Contributions are received by the Emergency Fund at ,110 Sherbrooke Street West.
Among1 those who have contributed to the fund to aid trie sufferers is Miss Helen R. Y. Reid, social service teacher. With her cheque she enclosed a letter offering sympathy "in this season of trial and tribulation." and observing that the world could not sufficiently praise the work of "regeneration" so far accomplished by the Jews in Palestine tsince the Balfour Declaration.
A baby home sponsored by the local _Hadassah Women's Zionist Organization in Palestine lay withjn the danger zone, and the sixty infants in the institution have had to be moved to the centre of Jerusalem. The cable stated that funds are badly needed, ami the Emerpency Fund authorities immediately forwarded $2,000.
The Kmergency Fund is being raised in all parts of the Dominion with local agencies in all the large centres. Jacob Keller! is tjie chairman of the local agency, with A. Levin as treasurer, and Harry Bit-, shavr secretary. An indication of the universal appeal made by the fund is to be seen in a letter received September 5. by headquarters. It came from a small town in \ew Brunswick, in which three Jewish families live. A miniature campaign was "organized" in this town, and the proceed"?? were forwarded here.
Appeals for contributions to the fund were made from all the local synagogue pulpits. Mrs. A. J. Ft*i-man and Mrs. Anna Selick. of Toronto, officers of the Hadassah. ad-dre*rd gatherings in Ontario.
