A dynamic, revitalized Judaism was predicted by Mrs. Maurice Stein-feld, of St. Louis, president of the National Federation of Temple Sisterhoods, In an address on "The Jew of This Generation" before the-closing luncheon of the 41st season of Temple Emanu-El Sisterhood, held in the Mount Royal Hotel Tuesday. Since the pragmatic ethics of Judaism coincided so closely with the scientific social thought and the spiritual approach of the day, Judaism should be a tremendous force in
the world._Mr*. Steinfeld stated it
was part of the "mothers in Israel," to see that this poetic and picturesque religion was not sacrificed to the modern menace of standardization.
Arrong the 180 guests at the meeting was a delegation of ten members of the Beth-Israel Sisterhood of Plattsburg, headed by its president, Mrs. Levy. She pointed out that there was a definite connection be -tween the Montreal and Plattsburg communities, the first Jewish wedding in Plattsburg having been performed by a Montreal ra&bl imported for the occasion-Reports were submitted by the retiring president and secretary,, Mrs, Arthur Simon and Mrs. Leo Fingard. Its outstanding feature, which was social work. Included assisting the Neighborhood House, serving lunches to the orphans at the Baron de Hirsch Institute, co-operating in the campaigns for the Jewish Federation of Philanthropies and the Jewish Hospital, and sewing for the poor. it also contributed to the furnishing and decoration of the Temple and entertained the children of the re4igfcw*a school at the various festival celebration*. was raised through bridge parties, showers, a food and fancy work sale.
The retiring president, Mrs. Simon, was presented with a fitted overnight bag by the members of the board. In making the presentation, Mrs. G. Fischel, an honorary president expressed appreciation.
The guest speaker was introduced by Mrs. I. M. Rubinovitch and thanked by Rabbi H. Stern.

The annual faculty dinner given by Rabbi Stern for the teaching staff of the Temple School took place at the Mount Royal Hotel Sunday, May 25th. at 7 p.m. Among those present were: Dr. and Mrs. Lyon Bercovitch, Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Lewinson, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur S. Jacobs, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Simon. Mr. Jack Was-serman, Sol Vineberg, Chas. Leonard Irving, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Albert, will this Saturday morning be called to the reading of the Law, in celebration of his bar-mitzvah.
Last Saturday* morning Morton 'Bloomfield addressed the Junior Congregation. The honour of opening the Ark was given to Isadore Shugar and the following were called to the reading of the Law: Bernard Besner, Joseph Aber, Jack Fraid, Mortimer Kastner, Marvyn Goldfine, Morton Bloomfield, Mark Golden-berg, and Mortimer Greenberg. The Haftorah was chanted by Mortimer Greenberg and the honours of Hag-bah and Gelilah were given to Moe Steinberg and Bernard Millman, respectively.
Last Sunday morning the final examination in religious school in history was given to the 7th and 8th year classes, and this coming Sunday they will be examined in customs and ceremonies and current events. Examinations for classes 4. 5 and 6 will be held the next two Sundays, June 1st and 8th. In the lower classes teachers will arrange their own time for the examinations.
The pupils of all the classes in the Hebrew School will be given oral as well as written final examinations. Written examinations for the regular classes will be held Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, June 4th and 5th. and the oral examinations on the afternoons of June 9th and 10th. The examinations for the Extension Classes were held this past week on Tuesday and Thursday, May 27th and 29th.
At the recent meeting held by mothers of pupils in the graduating class the various details in connection with the graduation exercises were discussed. This committee to take charge of the plans was elected: Mrs. S. Boulkind. chairman; and Mesdames M. L. Levine, A. Z. Cohen. J. Kaufman, I. Lesser, I. L Se-lig. J. Salomon. B. L. White and E, Wisenthal. Graduation exercises of the Religious School will be held on Sunday evening, June 8th. when the diplomas and prizes will be awarded to the graduates. At the conclusion of the exercises the parents of the graduates will be at home to their friends.
The closing exercises of the Religious School take place Sunday afternoon, June lath, when a program will be presented by the Dramatic Club, under the direction of Joseph H". Gordon. Israel R. Rubenstein. died Wed-nesday, May 21, at his h^me, 3567 sl Urbain street, after a bins - illness. Mr. Rubenstein was in his eighty-' second/ year. He was president of Rubenstein Brothers Limited, and was for 52 years Parnas of the Spanish and Portuguese syr.iirogue. It was through his efforts, and those of D. A. Ansell, former ronsul-gen-eral for Mexico, that a u-rant was obtained from Baron de Hu>ch for the founding of the institute. <�:" which he was treasurer for about years.
