SMOLKIN-STERN
The marriage of Miss Avena Stern, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Stern, 6665 Macdonald Avenue, to Avrum George Smolkin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smolkin, 6634 Waver lay Street, was solemnized at Chevra Kadlsha Bnai Jacob Synagogue, on Sunday, February 23, at half-past five o'clock, by Rabbi David Roth, assisted by Cantor J. Rosenzweig, and Reverend A. Greenberg. The bride was given in marriage oy her parents. She wore a fitted, white, peau de soie gown, which had a long-sleeved, lace bodice; and full skirt, appliqued with lace, and beadWxOrk, which finished in a long train. Her veil of tulie illusion was arranged with a double-tiered tiara; and she carried a prayer book with purple orchids. Miss Roslyn Stern was her sister's maid of honour. She wore a gold-coloured gown of peau de soie; and a matching headpiece; and her flowers were a bouquet of mauve orchids. Linda Stern, aged nihe years, sister of the bride, was an attendant. She wore a gold-coloured, lace dress; and a matching head-band: and carried a bouquet of gold-coloured carnations. Samuel Smolkin was his brother's best man. The ushers were: Allan Rubin, brother-in-law of the groom; Victor Bloom, Martin Hislop, Seymour Shuster, Larry Dankoff. Steven Stein, Philip Singer, ana Herbert Cobrin. Mark Rubin, aged six years, nephew of the groom, was ring-bearer. Standards of white, and gold-coloured chrysanthemums, and carnations decorated the Synagogue. The wedding music was played by an orchestra. Three hundred guests were received in the Synagogue hall. Mrs. Stern, mother of the bride, wore a gold-coloured, beaded, peau de soie �own. Her hat matched it. Mrs. molkin, mother of the groom, wore a gold-coloured, peau de soie gown, with beaded appliques; and sheath skirt with a panel at the back; also a hat of tne same colour. Each had a corsage of mauve orchids. Mrs. Samuel Luftman, grandmother of the bride, wore a gold-coloured, peau de soie sheath; with a matching hat.
