A UnirtrsUy Committee, composed of Presidents of academic institution* and Heads of Semitic Departments ha* been formed to welcome Dr. Magne*. In addition to Chancellor Brown, Dr. Nicholas Murray Butler, President of Columbia University and President Frederick B. Robinson of the College of the City of New York, will represent the local institutions. Other members of the American University Committee which will welcome Dr. Magnes, include President Robert B. Hutchlns, of the University of Chicago, Dr. Joseph 8. Ames of Johns Hopkins University, Provost Josiah Pennlman of the University of Pennsylvania, President David A. Robertson of Goucher College, Included on the Committee are such welt known Orientalists as Professor James H. Breasted, of the University of Chicago, Professor William Foxwe-11 Albright, of Johns Hopkins University, formerly Director of the American School of Archaeology In Jerusalem: Professor H. Montgomery of the University of Pennsylvania, and Professor Charles C. Torrey, Head of the Semitic* Department at Tale University.
Among the members of the American Advisory Committee who will act as" hosts, to Dr. Magnes are Judge Benjamin N. Cardozo, Judge Julian W. Mack, Dr. Cyrus Adler, Judge Irving Lehman, and Dr. Stephen B. Wise.
Dr. Magnes, who was formerly Rabbi of the Temple Bmanu-El, of 'New York, last visited this country In 1927 on behalf of the University. While in the United States Dr. Magnes wHl address meetings at various Universities and confer with members of the Departments of Oriental Studies and Scientific departments regarding proposed additions to the present faculties of the Hebrew University.

Ladies Bikur Chollim Society held a money shower at Bnai Jacob Synagogue February 23. Mrs. M. Lefcort presided. Mrs. P. Kooperstock read the minutes. Mrs. S. Kamickik donated a hand-made cushion to be raffled) which realized the sum of |(3. Mrs. J. Merson, who held the winning number, donated $1. Rabbi For spoke. Miss Bella Evenson played the piano. Mrs. J. Weinatan and Mrs. P. Kooperstock were joint hostesses. Refreshments were served by the hostesses assisted by Mesdames J. GoM-man and D. Wiseberg. At the meeting February II, a member donated a bronze Jardiniere to be raffled, and |21,75 was realized. Mrs. A. Leve, who held the winning number, donated $1. Officers elected: Mrs. M.
