The Montreal Jewish Branch of the Canadian Red Cross Society has established a tremendously impressive record of service, especially during the past year. In the spacious work-rooms in the Sommer Building, on Mayor Street, in Montreal, thousands of women have given day-by-day service In the many departments of work undertaken by this very active branch.
Under the presidency of Mrs. Samuel Bronfman, the Jewish Branch of Montreal has achieved a very great success, indeed, in all its endeavours. The committees in charge of the various depart-

ments have worked in a wonderful spirit of co-operation to help achieve the maximum results possible.
Considering the work of the individual departments of the branch, it is estimated that:
In the Sewing Department some 5823 separate articles were made consisting of nightgowns, pyjamas, women's and children's bloomers, baby gowns, bed Jackets, nightingales, children's dresses, handkerchiefs, work shifts, booties, trousers, and patch blankets, as well as 5569 hospital supplies such as gowns, nightshirts, bathrobes, towels, sheets, pillow cases, and utility bags, and 7,480 rolled bandages delivered to headquarters during the year.
Apart from the above work, the Branch also assumed the duty of providing clothing for 500 women, aha 3R, and 300 boys, IS years of age, air raid victims in England. ft is Interesting to note
that each of the 500 women's kits comprised one dress, one slip, one blouse, two nightdresses, two pairs of bloomers and one dressing gown; and each of the 300 boys' kits included two pairs of pyjamas and two shirts; in all 8.500 items.
The Knitting Department reports the completion and delivery to headquarters of 7,331 knitted articles during the year, including caps, helmets, gloves, army and navy sweaters, socks, mitts, wristlets and scarves. In addition, this department has also provided 500 handknitted sweaters and 500 knitted gloves for seamen, 600 pairs of socks, 300 sweaters, 300 caps and 300 pairs of mitts for boys of the air raid victims. The department also completed 173 H lbs. of knitted squares for blankets.
A special department was given over to making slippers for Invalids in the Canadian hospitals in England. These slippers were made from odd bits of felt, eiderdown, carpet, eta, and during the season 100 pairs were completed and shipped. A unique undertaking of the Branch was the making of 100 aviation belts.

During the year when the Canadian Red Cross Society made an urgent appeal for blankets for overseas, the Jewish Branch cooperated whole-heartedly with a blanket shower, and through the generosity and splendid response from the women in the community the sum of $5,22100 was raised in cash and 1,700 new blankets were contributed.
In all, the Branch reports the additional collection of $7,677.88 in cash during the year, which they transferred to the Canadian Red Cross Society. The amount was raised in such various ways as by garden parties, smorgasbord, carnival, bazaars, recitals, drawing of a portrait painting, bridges, teas, commemoration of many happy occasions, children's parties, etc It is a most remarkable commentary on the attitude of our community that alt these monies were raised spontaneously by groups of young and old, in the city and outside, without the need of encouragement or organization of the Fund Raising Committee. The total contribution in cash for the year by the Jewish
