MUSICAL LANDSCAPE OF ISRAEL
(Continued from Page One)
two chamber orchestras, and there are many first rate kibbutzim orchestras. The Israel Philharmonic, which is one of the world's finest, has been in Australia now, and will visit the Soviet Union in November. The National Youth Orchestra, Gadna, of Tel Aviv, won the fifth world music concourse in Kerkrade, the Netherlands, last month, for the third year in a row.
This proliferation of musical talent affects soloists like Mr. Bar-Ulan, who lives in New York and pursues his career from there.
"Even the largest audience per capita in the world cannot support all the performing artists that this country of 2,500,000 produce?," the pianist said. A soloist at the- age of six, Mr. Bar-Ulan had an auspicious start. His first con-cc-rt was at a ship launching.
"It was a passenger <hip called the Tel Aviv," he said. "I remember it was eventually soM to the .Japanese and ?unk by the Air.er-ieans."
Mr. Bar-Ulan studie.l at the Juillard School of Music in New York, ret'.;rr.ed to Israel to fi<eht in the UJiS war. and then went hack to the United St^Us. He made his, Carr.ogie Hall debut in IC'5-}. He will perform at fifty concerts in the United States hot we en October and May, jays, the New York Times, appearing next spring with the New York Philharmonic.

WE'VE GOT AN ELECTION COMING UP ON OCTOBER 23!
We did a good job together... Let's stick together to do even more!
Our city has made tremendous strides in the past six years. Working as a team* Jean Drapeau and the Civic Party of Montreal have converted our metropolis into a city of which we can justly be proud. Much remains to be done and that same team is eager to get back to work on such major projects as
 an urban redevelopment policy
an air and water purification program
expansion of the public transit system
improvement of traffic conditions through increased development of the roads system
 a permanent beautification program
 additional recreational facilities
"We believe you are proud to be a Montrealer.
We ask you to tell us with your vote.
We believe you are satisfied with our accomplishments.
We ask you to let us know on SUNDAY, OCTOBER 23!"
