Mrs. George Lester and Mrs. B. Hershenhorn were hostesses at a luncheon at the Georgian Room, honouring Miss Shirley Waxznan, prior to her marriage to Jack Ros-enfeld. The honoree wore black crepe, trimmed with sequins, and a corsage of roses. Among fourteen guests present was Mrs. 0. Maldaver, of Peterborough.
Mrs. Ida Click, of Pittsburgh, Pa., who visited her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. L. Hertz-man, Lyndhurst Avenue, was entertained by: Mrs. B. Kopman, at tea; Mrs. E. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Lampert, Bloor Street West, were hosts at a reception at Beth Yehuda synagogue in honour of the bar-mitz-vah of their son, Moishe Aaron. About two hundred fuects were present Hrs. Mrs. S. Grumbacher and Mrs. H. Klebanoff entertained at luncheon and the fashion show at the Royal York Hotel in honour of Miss Shirley Waxman, of Hamilton, Ont., prior to her marriage to Jack Rosenfeld. Present were: Mrs. 0. A surprise birthday party was given in honour of Mrs. I. Zener by her children, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. H. Hands, 47 Gloucester Grove. Present were: Mr. and Mrs. A. Mr. and Mrs. I. Caplan, Whit-more Avenue, were at home on their thirty-fifth wedding anniversary, to about four hundred guests. Mrs. Caplan wore a brown crepe cocktail dress, trimmed with brown beading, and a corsage of orchids and roses. Mr. and Mrs. Caplan'a children: Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Caplan, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Caplan, Mr. and Mrs. John Hershenhorn, and Leonard Caplan, were all present. The house was decorated throughout with baskets of flowers. Among the guests were: Mr. and Mrs. H. Bookstein, Mr. and Mrs. Ben. Greenspoon, and Mrs. S. Sedletsky, all of Detroit Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. A. Wall and family, of Leamington; and Mr. and Mrs. H. Harris and family, of Tilsonberg. About one hundred congratulatory telegrams were received.
Mrs. Abraham Schwartz entertained at a luncheon at the King Edward. Hotel, Vanity Fair Room, honouring her daughter, Ruth, whose marriage to Seymour Cohen, of Montreal, Que., takes place on October 28. About one hundred and twenty-five guests were received by

Mrs. Irvin Kates attended the bride as matron of honour, wearing a black crepe dress, trimmed with sequins, and matching pillbox hat with niching and veil, and carried a spray of roses and orchids. Esther Freedman and Jacqueline Berlia were flower girls, dressed in bine. Irvin Kates attended the groom as best man. During the ceremony, Miss Merle Hamborg sang "Because" and "Summertime". The bride's mother, Mrs. Freedman, received, wearing a blue afternoon drees, with a corsage of roses and orchids, H. Cherniakoff, the groom's father, of Winnipeg, Man.; Mrs. I. Shulman and daughters, Faye and Belle, and Mrs. F. Simon, all of Hamilton, were present.

Her only attendant was her cousin, Mrs. Lawrence Martin, of Mexico. The groom was attended by Milton Shier, of Toronto. There waa dinner and dancing, Mrs. Pass, the bride's mother, receiving in pale blue with a corsage of Sweetheart roses. The groom's mother. Mrs. Goldhar, wore wine-color with a corsage of Sweetheart roses. The bride and groom left on a wedding trip to Mexico, and will reside in Toronto.
