� CANADIAN Jewish Congress: Relief supplies to Jewish communities in three European countries are being sent this week by the United Jewish Refugee Agencies, an affiliate of the Congress, Saul Hayes, national executive director, announced. Seventy-five cases of supplies were sent aboard the S.S. Sophie Beck for surviving Jews in Poland. A number of cases were donated by the Ezra Ladies' Aid Society, Mrs. M. Lefcort, president, of this city. All are addressed to a Jewish relief committee in Poland, headed by Dr. Emil Som-merstein, a veteran leader of Polish Jewry who met with representatives of the Congress during an international conference in London, England. Plans for furthering relief work in Poland were speeded up. at that time. Another shipment was sent to Belgium aboard the S.S. Belgian Seaman which is proceeding directly from Montreal to Brussels. Mr. Hayes states that space for the one hundred and twenty cases of supplies was made available through the cooperation of Belgian government representatives in Canada. A third shipment for the surviving Jews of Yugoslavia will be sent this week aboard a vessel proceeding directly to a Yugoslav port. These shipments form part of the $1,-500,000 relief program undertaken by the Congress at the national convention in Toronto in January.
