Captain Mervyn L. Weiner, R. C.A., son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Weiner, 1120 Lajoie Avenue, returned home on the Queen Elizabeth from service overseas of nearly two years. He was one of five Canadian servicemen to be granted a Rhodes Scholarship at Oxford University, to begin with the autumn term this year.

Mr. and Mrs. Sigmund Rubin-ovich received one hundred and twenty-five guests at their home, 4927 Decarie Boulevard*, in honor of the bar-mitzvah of their only son, Joel, who was called to the Reading of the Law, on Saturday, February 16, at Shear Haahoma-yim Synagogue.
Mrs. Joseph Arron, 5 Cherry Street Halifax, N. S., entertained at tea on two occasions, with seventy-five guests, in honor of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Edward Arron, formerly Miss Pearl Brown, of Montreal. The table held a centrepiece of assorted flowers, with a sterling silver tea service on each side. Mesdames Charles and Louis
Arron, Harry Arron, and G. Levine poured tea. Misses Gitty and Corin-ne Arron assisted in serving. The honoree wore a black satin and crepe dress, and a corsage-of red roses.
Mr. and Mrs. Edward M. Sager, GrenieT Avenue, entertained two hundred guests at a dinner at Shaare Zion Synagogue, in honor of the bar-mitzvah of their son, Stanley. The synagogue was dee-orated with standards of gladioli and palms, and the tables held centrepieces of spring flowers and yellow candles. Mrs. Sager, mother of the bar-mitzvah, received far a turquoise-blue dinner gown, with colored accessories, and a corsage of Talisman roses. Mrs. H. Abraae-ovitz, grandmother of the bar-mitzvah, wore a black beaded gown* and a corsage of American Beauty roses. The following week,' Stanley was host to twelve ft tends at the Ice Follies, the party returning to his home for dinner.
