Mr. Mutiger was a member of Ostrovtzer Synagogue, Hebrew National Association, Folks Farein, and contributed to the Old Folka' Home and D'Arcy Street Talmud Torah.
Mrs. William Balick Waxman, 614 Dufferin Street, died on Tuesday, September 3, at the Toronto General Hospital, in her forty-seventh year. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Waxman; one daughter, Taschia Waxman; one brother, Hyman Balick; and five sisters, Mrs. F. Weinblatt, of New York; Mrs. E. Keller, Mrs. M. Go-gel, Mrs. A. Stein, and Mrs. C. Berg/ Funeral took place at Benjamin's, and interment was at Goel Tzedec Synagogue Cemetery.
Mrs. Sarah Lake, 264 Markham Street, died on Friday, September 6, at Toronto General Hospital, in her fifty-fifth year. She is survived by her husband, Charles Lake; two sons, Murray and Harry; two daughters, Mrs. A. Glass (Esther); Mrs. J. Friedland (Fanny); and seven grandchildren. Funeral took place at Benjamin's, and interment was at the United Jewish People's Order Cemetery, Dawes Road. Mrs. Lake was a member of the Order.

Unmindful of the flames sweeping around his machine, he coolly raised Ms 'dozer blade, ploughed into the inferno . . . and worked his way toward the town by pushing up huge cuts of earth that buried the fire. This provided needed time for the fire-fighters to get organized . . . and won for Cummings the praise of the entire community.
