Studies Nursing For Work In Poland
A Polish student nurse won a year's scholarship in England late in 1938. Before the year was up, Poland was invaded by the Nazis, and she was detained in England She thus escaped the fate of her family which has disappeared without trace.
And now, on another scholarship, this one provided by the National Council of Jewish Women, Miss Rachela Hutner, 39-year-old native of Warsaw, has come to America
for a year's post-graduate work at the College of Nursing, Wayne University, at Detroit, Mich. Miss Hutner, who arrived by plane at New York, is already enrolled at the university, for the study of hospital organization and public health service. Later, she will return to Poland to train nurses needed by the Jewish community in Warsaw.
Before coming to England in 1938, Miss Hutner had completed more than two years' training at the School of Nursing in Warsaw, and had served for a year at the city's Jewish Hospital. Prevented from returning to Poland in 1939, she enrolled for a three-year train-

Her full-length veil was caught to a high tiara, and she carried a Bible, decorated with an orchid, and white and green stream, ers. Miss Mary Sokalsky, who attended the bride as maid of honor, swore a blue crepe gown, trimmed with beading and sequins, and carried a bouquet of American Beauty roses. The bridesmaids were: Misses Sybil Vail, in rose-coloured moire taffeta; Sybil Zand, in blue sheer lace; Anne Magill, in blue bongalitie; and Minnie Lucatch, in blue satin. They carried bouquets of pink and American Beauty roses,

By the end of 1947, the organization plans to have 14 more European students in training at American universities.
Previous scholarship recipients, students from France, Greece, Holland, and Tunisia, are now training for welfare work at Columiba, Chicago, Minnesota, and Tulane Universities, and at the University of California at Berkeley. Upon the completion of their studies, all will return to aid in the social reconstruction of their own countries.

The bride and groom left by plane for New York on their wedding trip, the bride wearing a red gabardine suit, with winter-white shortie coat and matching hat, black accesories, and an orchid corsage. They will live at 132 Beatrice Street. Out-of-town guests were: Mr. and Mrs. M. Antony, of Ingersoll; Mr. and Mrs. M. Zaitchifek, of London; Mrs. S. Polsky, of New York; Mr. and Mrs. N. Gusaack, of Long Island, N.Y.; B. Kobransky, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Mrs. S. Winch, of Chicago, 111.; Mr. and Mrs. S. Cooper, of Tillson-berg; and Samuel Barren, of London, England.
