York State legislature for many years on a variety of issues.
He is also a member of a committee appointed by Chief Justice Earl Warren to draft rules of evidence for the Federal Courts, and heads the sub-committee of the American Bar Association on Federal practice.
As Nassau Country Attorneys Mr. Weinstein filed a brief in support of the case brought by radio station WMCA, which resulted in reapportionment of the state legislature. Nassau at the time was the most severely under-represented county in the state.
The Eastern District of New-York covers Kings, Queens. Nassau, Suffolk and Richmond counties.
It was not considered unusual for the President to approve the recommendation of Senator Kennedy, who is often considered a political rival, says the New York Times. Senators usually have a large hand in choosing Federal judges in their states.
