Mr. and Mrs. M. Fain, 5780 Trans Island Avenue, will celebrate the bar-mitzvah of their son, Bur-ry, who will be called to the Reading of the Law on Saturday, January 21, at nine o'clock, at Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue. He is the brother of Timothy Leonard; grandson of Mr. and Mrs. M. Farber, Maplewood Avenue; and of Mr. and Mrs. S. Fain, of Winni-pcc:, Man. After services, kiddush will be observed, followed by luncheon, at the synagogue; and the following evening, there will be a family dinner at home.

Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Beecher, 3424 Northcliffe Avenue, celebrated the bar-mitzvah of their son, David Theodore, who was called to the Reading of the Law at Shaar Hashomayim Synagogue. He is the brother of Harriet. That evening, three hundred guests were received in the Synagogue hall which was adorned with seasonal flowers in variety. Mr. and Mrs. J. Goldstein, Miss Ethel Hirschfield, and Dr. and Mrs. F. Lefkowitz, all of Trenton, N. J.; Mr. and Mrs. E. Aronson, of New York; Miss Frances Gasster, of Boston, Mass.; and Mrs. M. Wein-stein, of Thetford Mines, - were guests.
Mrs. W. Litvack, Jean Brillant Avenue, entertained one hundred guests at tea in the Blue Room of the Ritz Carlton Hotel for'h^r daughter, Charna, fianc�e of Irving Hecht, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Hecht, Park Avenue, and a bride-elect of June 4. Tho hostess wove a black crepe dress, with long sleeves, and square recklire, trimmed with pink satin, a pink felt hat, and black accessories, with a corsage of pink and mauve carnations. Mrs. Hecht wore a bottle-green dress, with a high neckline, long sleeves, and a flared skirt; a matching green felt hat, and black accessories, with a corsage of Talisman roses. The hon-oree wore a light brown lace ciress, fashioned with a tightly-fitted bodice, low neckline, and gathered skirt; a corsage of purplo orchids, and a light brown matching hat of lace and veiling, with Hark brown accessories. A centrepiece of roses, carnations, and snapdragons decorated the table.

Miss Karovitch wore a Paddy-green dress, with gold-shaded accessories; Mrs. Louis Karovitch, her mother, wore a blue print dress; Mrs. L. B. Levine, mother of the bride-elect, wore a black crepe dress, trimmed with pink lace. Miss Levine, the honorec, wsre a rust-shaded taffeta dress, with gold-shaded accessories. The table adornment was of roses, carnations, and pom-poms.
