Celebrations continue at Riclimond mall fair

Celebrations the 50th an niversary of the state of Israel continued last Sunday as a community fair was held inside Richmond Centre shopping mall.
More than 20 organizations throughout the Lower Mainland's Jewish community set up booths and displays at the centre of the mall while local performers tmd children's choirs entertained the crowds of Jews and non-Jews who turned up to show their support for Israel.
Judy Mandleman, chair for the "Israel at 50" celebrations, said she was impressed with the amount of community support the event received. "I was pleased with the turnout of the Jewish community and I was also pleased to see the interaction of the general community. It was fun to watch.
"I was happy to be Jevdsh and proud and out there at Richmond Centre Mall," she continued. "I really hope that this is the first of many events where we take oxu- commimity out into the general public and make ourselves much more visible."

Entertainers for the day included the Tempos, Kreplakh, the Cherry Classics, the Keff L'Olam Dance Troupe, the Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver Shalom Dancers, the miming of Max and Vlad, Tzimmes, Klezmer Mom-bassa, Arnold Selwyn with Joyce Cherry, the Vancouver Talmud Torah Primary Choir, the Richmond Jewish Day School Primary Choir and the Beth Tikvah Hebrew School Children's Choir. □
