Admired doctor retires
Retirement party being held to celebrate life's work.

Aspecial celebration will be held Sunday, Nov. 2, honoring the retirement of Dr. Michael Wolochow. Dr. Wolochow, who retired this September, has been a family doctor in Vancouver for more than 45 years and has helped thousands of patients in the Jewish community.
Sophie Waldman, a friend and former patient of Dr. Wolochow, says the doctor was Imown for going above and beyond the call of duty. "He had an excellent bedside manner, was very tactful and he could be reached day and night without any complaints," she explained of Dr. Wolochow's popularity. "He had compassion and I think Uiis is very important for a medical doctor."
Rosalie Segal, who was also a patient and friend of Dr. Wolochow, said it was his selflessness that made him special.
"In the early days, when [doctors] billed patients privately, he wouldn't bill anybody if they were a friend," she said. "Money was never important to him. Only his patients and the care of his patients.

hold a hand, he would listen and ho would counsel. He helped people in so many ways and he just loved people."
The afternoon will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Wosk Auditorium at Schara Tzedeck synagogue with a reception. At 2:30 p.m. the program will continue with a tribute to Dr. Wolochow by family and friends.
