Seminar addresses the question, Why be Jewish?
Great discoveries have a great impact on our lives. Wliether they are new worlds, now forces, new ideas or now cures, discoveries illuminate and improve our lives.
The Aish HaTorah Discovery Seminar is a unique experience devoted to exploring the basis for belief in Judaism. Discovery sessions explore the question: Wliy be Jewish? with a compelling demonstration of the relevance of Jewish values and ideas.
Aish HaTorah is considered one of th& world's leaders in Jewish educational programs. It's well-known for its scientific approach to discussing the authenticity and significance of Judaism.
Eitz Chaim synagogue is
bringing Aish HaTorah's Discovery Seminar to Richmond, April 30-May 2. At tlie workshop, participants will learn:
• how to distinguish knowledge from faith,
• seven wonders of Jewish history,
• information only the author could have known,
• whether our Torah been transmitted reliably,
• the genius of the Torali, and
• God's role in history.

Nosh and Learn, a community forum designed to discuss contemporary issues from a diversity of Jewish perspectives, will open its doors for noshing at the Jewish Community Centre April 29. The evening starts at 7 p.m. with refreshments. At 7:30, five panelists will lead a discussion on what Judaism thinks about reproductive choice, cloning and euthanasia.
The panelists will be Dr. Kathy Greenberg, the medical director of B.C. Women's Hospital CARE program, Bethan Everett, a PhD candidate on ethics and medical law at the University of British Columbia, and congregation Beth Israel's Rabbi Charles Feinberg.
. Also featured on the panel will be Dr. Dorotliy Shaw, a specialist on prenatal diagnosis and women's issues and Dr. Albert Yuzpe, co-director of the Genesis Fertility Centre and professor emeritus of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Western Ontario. • Admission to the session is $5 but participants will receive a complimentary admission if they have dinner at Chagall's in the JCC before the panel discussion.
The Nosh and Learn program is being presented by the B'nai Brith Evergreen region, the Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver and the Vancouver Hillel Foundation. Chagall's and the Jewish Western Bulletin are also sponsoring the event. For more information call 257-511L □
City welcomes Ocliodio
Andre Ochodlo, an internationally known musical performer, will make his Canadian debut at the Norman Rothstcin Theatre.
The actor and singer was bom in Poland and has studied drama and music throughout his entire life in Poland and Russia. He is a graduate of the Institute of Vocal and Dramatic Arts in Poland and has studied or performed at Giessen University in Poland, the Theatre on the
Taganka in Moscow and the Jewish Tlieatre in Warsaw.
He has also had numerous appearances on Polish and German television, and has participated in many musical competitions.
He has been internationally acclaimed for his ability to understand Yiddish idioms and to capture the diflicult nuances of old Yiddish songs.
