READY FOUR NEW COURSES AT JEWISH STUDIES INSTITUTE
Four new courses of "high quality and great interest to. the com•^ munity" willbeofferednextnionth. when the Vancouver Institute of Adult Jewish Studies commences its second term.
Institute- spokesman Gertrude Snider last. week announced the following new class schedule. M. K^spi-SilVerman will teach a course entitled,^ 'Trom Slavery to ]Preedom: Understandingthe. Exodus." It will be ,a study of the first 16 chapters of the.Bcok of Exodus.
Seymour Levitan will instinct "Yiddish Literature in Translation," and discuss shoH'works by Nahman of Braslav, Sholem Aleichem andl; B. Singer.
Fine will be offering a course entitled "Introduction to the Zohar." Through the read- : ing of selected Zohar texts in translation, it will present ian introduction to the world of Kabbalah. .....
; Finally, Kaye Miller Williteach a course Called "Jewish Pr<Alems c on Film; Frozen Images, Fluid
Memories." This course will feature films and discussion concerning anti-Semitism; assimila*-:. tion, identity, holocaust andhome-coming. 'i "
The Institute's second (iight-week session will bcfgin^'with registration ai the Jewish Community Centre;;on Wednesday, Jan; 12v^ 7:30 to 6 p.m., followed by a guest speaker and refreshments.
The film course will start Monday, Jan. 17, 7:30 to' 9:30 p.m., with coffee and discussion following. All other courses begin
