Mrs. E. R. Sugarman, in a fascinating way, told of the 12th Trennield Conference. She likened the conference to a factory engaged in the production of a programme for its sections. The machinery being the brains of the many brilliant women assembled and the oil the national dues.
A new movement which has lately been entrusted in the hands of the National Council to spread was the "Seeing Eye Movement.'' In an effort to help the blind, and make them as independent of human assistance as possible, they were supplied with dogs especially trained for this purpose. These were originally brought over from Germany with a trainer and are now being - bred and trained in the States.
In conclusion Mrs. Sugarman spoke of the importance of Vancouver being chosen for the next conference, to be held in June, 1931.
Mrs. I. W. Chess, who presided at the meeting, then expressed the appreciation of the club to their two delegates and spoke of the honor that had been bestowed on Mrs. Sugarman in being chosen president of the Interstate and a director on the National Council.
At the close tea was served, and a social hour enjoyed.
A marriage of considerable interest in Vancouver took place last week in San Francisco, when Miss Esther (Essie) Bloom, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Bloom, Davie Street, was united in marriage to Mr. Hjonan Silverman of San Francisco, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Silverman of this city. Miss Bloom was an active member of the Vancouver section of the Council of Jewish Juniors.
Miss Eva Weston left recently for a month's holiday in Los Angeles. She will also visit in San Francisco.
Miss Angela Bell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nat Bell, whose engagement was recently announced to Mr. David Druxer-man of New York city, is expected home shortly after a visit in the East.
Miss Ida Halperin, who has been travelling for some time in the East, is now the guest of her uncle in Winnipeg.
The many friends of Miss Ruth Koenigs-berg will be sorry to hear that she is ill at her home.
Complimenting Miss Clara Cohen, who is leaving shortly for Seattle, where she will make her home, Miss Bertha Breger entertained at a house party recently. A farewell gift was presented to Miss Cohen by the guests.
Mr. Frederick Abraham, of Birmingham, England, who has been visiting in Vancouver, left on Saturday, February the 15th, for a five-month trip to the Orient and Australia.
Mr. and Mrs. Mark Goldman of London, England, are making their annual visit to Vancouver, and will be en pension at the Ritz for the next month.
Miss Stella Benoliel of Seattle is spending the week end in Vancouver, the house guest of Miss Ruth Mahrer.
Mr. Joseph Marks, well known violinist, appeared as assistant artist to Madam Podoska, at a concert given recently at the Hotel Vancouver.
Mrs. Goldsteinr of Montreal, who is the house guest of her daughter, Mrs. Max Grossman, is enjoying a visit in Seattle.
PI TAU PI FRATERNITY
ESTABLISHED IN VANCOUVER
Among the Americans who came up to Vancouver last week to attend the Pi Tau Pi Fraternity installation affairs were Messrs. Herbert Schoenfeld Jr., Arthur Grunbaum, Henry Grunbaum, Roy Rosenthaul, Alan Blum, Berman Schoenfeld Jr., Jack Schermer, Edward Stern, William Rosen of Seattle, and Irwin Fulop, Ted Baum, Abe Rosenberger, Stanley Lang of Portland, and Maurice Ruebens of Spokane, also Mrs. Frederick Fisher and Miss Irene Itkin of Seattle and Mrs. J= Lang and Miss Caroline Lang of Portland.
The initiation was conducted by the Phi Delta Chapter of Seattle, of which Mr. Morton Schwabacher is president.
The Vancouver chapter has the honor of being the first outside of the United States. The Pi Tau Pi is the oldest Jewish social fraternity in America, vnth chapters all over the United States.

The Rachel Goldbloom Chapter of Hadassah are planning a luncheon on March 5th at the Community Centre.
I. O. B. B. Ladies' Auxiliary Annual Purim Dance will be held at the Community Centre on March 15th.
The Lillian Freiman Chapter of Hadassah had a very enjoyable social evening, in the Community Centre, on Saturday, February 15th. The officers and members wish to extend their hearty thanks to the hostesses and friends who assisted so capably in making this affair successful.

The question of compensation and individual rehabilitation, which is the chief intent, and implement compensation to be given by the government was discussed but not decided on pending further negotiations with the government. The Committee is still awaiting final proposals for Hebron and expects shortly to announce a decision. Reconstruction in Safed will take the dual form of rebuilding a new commercial dual form of rebuilding a new commercial quarter in the old city and the construction of a new residential quarter on open ground outside the congestad area. With the possible exception of the Hebronites, relief for other centers is expected to be ended by February.
