Hungarian Jew Elected To Senate
Budapest.—The election of the Jewish Banker, Frankel to the Hungarian Senate, has recently been ratified. Mr. Frankel will represent the Jewish Orthodox Congregation of Hungary. In order to become a Senator, Frankel first had to be elected rabbi, since according to the Hungarian law, only a rabbi could represent the Jews in the Senate. A great opposition to Frankel's election to the Senate arose as a result of this procedure, his opponents claiming that since he was not really performing the duties of a rabbi, he is not entitled to sit in the Senate.
However, the Hungarian Minister of Justice has now decided that the authorization as a rabbi which Frankel got from the Jewish community here is sufficient to entitle him to a seat in the Senate, even though he doesn't actually perform the duties of a rabbi.

Jerusalem. Mar. 24.—Jewish v.^or-shippers praying at the ancient Wailing Wall, the scene of the disturbances that led to last Summer's riots, were again disturbed Saturday by Arabs with the recently introduced musical religious ceremonies of Zikhar. French and Jewish tourists witnessing the interruption were so indignant that they demanded police intervention but got no satisfaction because the police declared that they had no instructions to interfere.
Last Saturday two Jewish worshippers at the Wailing Wall were interrupted by similar ceremonies. The Jewish population, protesting to the government was informed that the administration would do nothing to prevent the recurrence of the disturbances until the arrival of the League of Nations Wailing Wall Commission, soon to be appointed to settle Jewish and Moslem claims.to the Wall.

Jewish Bull-Fighter Seriously
Injured During Appearance
In Madrid Arena
Sydney Franklin (originally Froom-kin), the Brooklyn .bull-fighter, received serious injuries in Madrid, Spain, on Sunday, after being gored by a bull at his second appearance of the year in the Madrid arena. Though surgeons declare that his wounds are very dangerous and painful, they believe he has a good chance of recovery. The bull, which was an unusually large and fierce one, not only gored Franklin, but also tossed" him high in the air. Franklin was taken to the hospital, put under an anaesthetic and operated on.
Sydney Franklin, who is the son of a Brooklyn Jewish policeman, started his career as a bull fighter in Mexico City, where he showed much prowess in the arena. In Spain, too, his success as a matador has been phenomenal, killing as he did two bulls in succession in a Seville arena. However, last August in Madrid a bull knocked him down, injuring his knee.
